G David Laguiole

A gent from Canada posted this knife a while back. I bought it.
It's well built, liner lock, and no snap. I don't know if it is supposed to snap. It thumbs out nice and closes easily.










Even came with a little pouch that I don't think was made for the knife but it fits.

Most liner locks that I know of and the one I own don't use a spring and flick open to the lock position.
The one I own which was a kit I put together doesn't have a spring at all.
One I put together for my Brother has a false spring which is just for looks.
Does the back square or round end on your French knife touch the spring?
Do you see the spring move when you open it?

PS. That knife is very nice and a good collectable one. Very good stainless steel also.
The best knife I have in my small collection is a French made one. A custom made Corsican Vendetta Knife from Fontenille Pataud. Also the most expensive.

The blade doesn't touch the spring at all that I can see.

What are those things worth? I don't think I got hurt when I bought it.

The spring is probably a false one for decoration.
This would just be a guess from searching around the net.
I would think that knife would be worth in the 100 to 150 range.
I could not find any G. David lock liners though.
So it could be rare and worth more.
Like I said , this is a guess.
Someone could come along and correct me.
I have also seen that type of sheath before.
I don't think it goes with that knife either.
The markings on the metal button could be a clue to the maker.

Bill, here's some closed listings on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_jid=v4- ... =1&_ipg=50 Looks like selling prices are all over the place but like knives-are-quiet says, yours could be more because of the liner lock. It doesn't really mean anything but I've never seen one with a liner lock.
