Horn handled French Knife ???

Post by galvanic1882 »

I was wondering if anyone could help me find out more about this knife that I picked up in a batch of knives I just bought. It is 5 3/8" closed and marked on the blade CORNET-FETUS over CLERMONT-FR. Is it a French knife?? Does the FR stand for France? It has no liners and is nice an tight. Note the pivot pin is screwed in!! The ring of course unlocks it. Any help on the maker and waht year it was made would be great.

Thanks Mike

Definitely French and the screw for a blade pivot usually indicates a fairly high end knife.I'm not familiar with that name but there was a post on one of these forums(I think Miller Bros. posted it)with a link to French tang stamps.I may have bookmarked it;I'll have to see.
I have a several knives with this construction;a couple by Mongin and one by Henri Renaud and an unidentified maker.Almost forgot;an ivory one by Guerre Fils(War Brothers roughly translated).
