nice purchase, monk!
that mammoth toothpick had been sitting there unsold for much longer than i would've thought possible.
i was wondering who would eventually notice it.
i wish they'd make more ivory-handled stuff.
the executive whittler was a perfect candidate, but they only made one of them!

Very interesting..........you're right this is what makes collecting fun ::ds:: Also noted on the photo you posted of #8 that the bolsters are different.
OK.......now I am officially on the hunt for one of these. I'm already a sucker for anything with ivory, but this just amped up my interest :lol:

Hey Paul________great score on the mixed bag !!!!!!!!!!! ::tu::

I got one of those pocket friendly,congress, in stag,and it's a neet little knife*** I liked the blade choice, wharncliff / coping, better than the sheepfoot / pen,that was on the #61's ::nod::

Not much excited,about that #65 Hogan,but,I do think,the Ebony model,has a better,look,than,the stags ::shrug:: wow!!!!!, I can't believe""I said that????"" :mrgreen:

congrats,on some very nice GEC"S ::tu:: ::tu::

Hey Mark___ you may have gotten lucky ???/ Even,Mike,on CK.net,is talking about what poor quality,the Snakewood,is,since they raised the price__not much,of that snake like grain,that we all love so much___said he would have thought,with the price increase,they would have been,very selective,with their choice of wood grains ??

Folks,

I've noticed the same when it comes to the quality of the snakewood. Some are outstanding examples which do the name justice. Others seem to me, hardly indentifiable. Raising the price should come with top notch quality.

If one was to do a search on some examples it is easy to see the swing in quality. ::smirk::

I think maybe,that snakewood,is like the stags, mamouth ivory,and primitive bones, in that each slab,has it's own,personality ?? You can,research,some of the knives,made,in the past_____and the ones,that are left-over, (still for sell ),are the ones, that have the"" least"" amount of texture / color/character ect._____sorta like the "'ugly duckling""______and being production run,knives, some will get made with the ""good stuff"" and some with the ""ugly stuff""__ some with matched scales--some without ??___but ugly,needs ""LOVE"" too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ::ds::
