I'm missing something.....

Post by Cope »

I know nice examples of Remington are highly sought after and this isn't in to bad of shape. BUT still why did this thing go so high? Was it the little Indian totem pole thing? it does come with a knife purse. I have seen decent bullet knives bring less than this.

It was indeed because of the totem pole. These knives are much more rare than most of the bullet knives. I'd say maybe 1 a year is all you'll see on Ebay. Most of the time they'll bring around $1000. If you have a Sargents 6th edition book, on page 318 he shows several totem pole knives and gives a price range of 350 to 4000.

Wow, learned something today.
Never heard of the Remington Totem knife!
I don't have Sargent's 6th edition, however I do have his 5th and 7th editions and no mention of totem knives in those books.

If you have Sargents 5th, they are on page 270. The next to the last of the colored pages. ::tu::
