Thanks for the oldies, Dimitri!
And glad you like the spears Dave!!
Fran, the closest knife to that Tryon is the Remington above!! An unlikely match, but that extra long bolster is a close match, and if I recall (a dicey situation these days
), they're the only two extra-longs I have.

Great Stoof D!!
I posted this in the I*XL thread, but it belongs here as well;
Got this little treasure off ebay the other day. The seller said it was her grandfather's knife. It's been well used and well taken care. The old man put a hair poppin sharp edge on it too.

Been carryin it for a week now. Never been a barlow fan, but I LIKE this one.

Owd Wullie posted some nice Colonials a while back. Here is another with a different handle color. I know these knives are about the cheapest things ever made in America, but even so the guys at work marvel over the snap of the blades and the workmanship in general. They don't make knives like this any more...

Re: The Venerable Old Barlow
We had a thread on this knife recently but I'd still like to put a shot on the Barlow thread since this is almost certainly the oldest Barlow most of us will ever see. As best we could figure, made by either Matthew or Luke Oates (I'll bet there were a Mark and John in the family as well), Sheffield England, late 1700s to early 1800s.

Re: The Venerable Old Barlow
Here's a few of mine:
A Case XX
An unusual Colonial Barlow with a screwdriver secondary blade.
A Kent
A Marx,"safety" Barlow made of rubber.
A couple of Case Daddy Barlows;one I notched because it is almost impossible to open otherwise.
A Russell Barlow with sheepfoot main blade.
A couple of Schrade 206's someone gave me awhile back as partial payment for some pinstriping work.
A Swan Works miniature Barlow.
A Tip Top Barlow with a bone handle on one side and a wood handle(probably a replacement)on the other.I have a couple other knives that look to have been made this way at the factory;possibly as a salesman's sample.I don't think this one is.
