Nice tux James. ::drool:: ::drool::
Cute little fixed blade also.

Ken,
I use a scanner mostly. You might try different colored backgrounds as Phil suggested. I just tried a blue towel & the blades seemed to show up better than with the yellow towel for a background. I like towels better than paper, just seems to work better for me. I think the key is experimentation.

It's not old and it's not a very good pic but here is a Case XX Taffy Stripe Celluloid Toothpick.

jfarmer the white strip on your tooth pick makes me think of toothpaste.

Gr8Scout and orvet when I get a scanner I will have to try that too.
That was just a photo from E Bay on that knife I just won. I wanted to clean it first. Then show it.

If I have to I will get my son's camera Sunday. Not only to show some Cells but also to show the old gun case I store them in.

I think I will be learning a lot more about taking photo's the next few weeks.

We've made it to lucky page number 13. Here's an old Imperial toothpick. The dark greenish spot is my shirt in a reflection.

Here is one sister to yours.

I note you have 2 pins in yours. I have none. This is a fish knife. I just won this on E Bay and have not recived it yet. I am starting to like the fell of a toothpicks in my hand. Any reason for this? Is it just me?

mirando was the co-founder of imperial

I got a couple celluloid handles in the mail yesterday. I haven't have a chance to clean them up, but I would post them anyway.

The first is an Imperial tuxedo.
The second is an Utica.

I don't know the date. I don't have a copy of Goins' book on cutlery markings, yet. If you can find a copy it might tell you.

Does anyone in the forum know?

Thanks,

The "arched" Utica stamping is thought to be 1920's to 1930's. probably up to WWII.

Hukk ; Looks like I received my first BAD celluloid handle. See the right blade how it shows the line that is not covered up by the handles? (Sorry I do not know how to put that red pen to the photo like you do) its bad yes. The bolsters are rusty like too. So are the Ring and the Shield. The Blades were polished trying to get off the black stuff, and they are very loose too. I can see through the knife between the brass and handles (I see3 pins but they don’t show on the out sides of the handle) and in-between the springs. This knife is stamped made in Germany and shield stamped FISH KNIFE.
I am afraid to place it with any of my other knives. This is the WORST knife I have. ::td:: ::td:: ::barf:: ::barf::

This is built to sit the bottom of a tackle box, not in a display case. ::disgust:: ::disgust:: To use another mans words.
