A W WADSWORTH & SON, GERMANY

Neat little knife. Pretty blue handles, steel liners and bolsters ( I think ) Blade looks mostly all there. Snaps like a little gator and has a half stop. About 3 1/8" closed.




Any body got any info on this lil cutester?

I can't help you much but my Standard Guide does list Wadsworth, German, A.W. Wadsworth & Sons c. 1905-1917. Sorry but that is all. It is a nice find,

I figured it to be in the 20's to 30's just by looking at it. I had no idea that plastic made back in the teens was that nice.

Hey Willie,
My reference, Blades Guide.... list A. W. Wadsworth and Sons, but it says diddly squat about the company. No info given. I do occasionally see scout type knives made by them for sale on ebay. They are smaller than the standard size scout pattern, and sell rather well usually.

PS - Just found this from Blue Principle on Straight Razor Place:

"A W Wadsworth was a trademark used by A Kastor & Brothers, Germany & Austria. Various marks to tangs such as 'Austrian Cutlery Works Austria' and 'XLNT'. In busuness from 1905 - 1936."

I found a reference to A W Wadsworth and son in Czechoslovakia as well.

The 1936 date seems a bit more realistic for that knife to me just because of the cool blue sparkly handles. I've never seen any plastic that fancy back to the teens. Not sayin it ain't there, but I've never seen it.

It a fun little knife and has some good steel too. It had a decent edge on it and I touched it up a bit. The blade is plenty hard. I may EDC that thing just for grins.
