Remington Photos

We need to get this started and since I like the old ones, 1920-1940, I am going to post some photos of mine.
The first I'll put up is a R1123 that my Dad bought at a hardware store in Stamford, Tx in about 1932 or 1933, not really sure on the exact date. I started using it, yes, using it, in my teens. I must have skinned and cut the pecker out of about a thousand racoons with it. Then I went on to deer hunting and used it on field dressing and skinning.
On the second, I am told they called the scales Irish Soap.
Third is just a nice littel pearl with some spots.
I am convinced that Remington knives at the time were the best made in the USA.

I only have one which I bought from an AAPK seller. It was listed as an "older" knife though probably not as old as the ones Paladin showed. Still, it is a solid and well built knife in a classic pattern. It doesn't show in the picture, but the delrin handle has tiny grooves cut across it to make it easier to hold on to when wet. I like to see this kind of detail in a working knife.

Paladin, Nice old R1123, and no one can question it. You know what it is and where it came from. If possible could you show the tang stamps and the pattern #?

Thanks, Stockman. It is one of which I am very proud. It'll go to one of the kids someday.
Here is a shot of both the tang stamp and the pattern number. No marks on the spey blade. It has a nice etch when I started using it but has long since disappeared.

Nice showing of older knives.
Only got one Remington and it is well used and/or abused; however, still not bad for the age.

Here's a few of my folders and some fixed blades.I have some pearl Remingtons in another location I'll have to dig out.Some are circle Remington and others are straight line;there is even a Remington Pal transition knife and a few letter opener knives.

Beautiful old Remingtons Guys I only have one Remington in my collection so far but I will be adding more Here is a R106 Stag Jack that I picked up off the bay a couple of weeks ago I like her alot

Absintheur can you show pics of the blade and punch on the knife with the acorn shield. Also the tang stamp and pattern #. is it a R3955. Mark

A R3955 would have Pyremite handles, not bone.

Here's an old Remington R395 I collect old Remington's when I get a chance and this is one of the first ones I ever bought (or rather my wife bought it for me). The knife has been cleaned, but it's still a pretty nice old knife.

I downloaded the picture after I got the knife, wish I was a good enough photographer to take a picture like this.

Here's an old Remington R7293 sleeveboard whittler with the blood groove on the master blade, It's been cleaned, but still a pretty nice old knife.

This knife is shown without the bloodgroove in Stewart & Ritchie's book.
