Compliments of Schrade Cutlery.

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

KG, by 'buyers' do you mean their dealers?
I was under the impression the salesmen gave
them out to the dealers they visited.
You have a nice assortment KG, glad to know there
are some other complimentary patterns.
Only one I'd seen before was always the 18OT.

Hi woseyjales, ::handshake:: may-be it's just the way Australians talk, buyers and sellers is the same as Dealers. The buyers buy from some-one and sell to others = Dealers. Sorrey about that.
I have always called these knives Give-a-ways.
I note: your knife dose not have the "Special Raised Shield" like all of my early knives.
When I started to collect these, I did not paly the prices they bring now... Ken

I do not think you where robbed, it looks like Schrade stoped using the Raised Shield in the later
knives. All of my knives came in Brown Boxes, I have not seen one like yours.
Some-one must know about these Give-a-ways.

Hi Keith, The paperwork that came with all of these knives says; "Congratulations! You have earned this fine Schrade...because we value your business" This to me; sounds like they where given out to Dealers that sold Schrade knives. Ken.

I have two of those in the Old Timer collection:

33OT, Compliments 1983, and a 194OT from 1984.

The 194 is especially interesting because this is on the backside.

I've never learned the reason for this printing, and it seems that other 194 Compliments knives don't have it. My hypothesis, the knife was used as a test just to see what it looked it. They couldn't sell it afterward, obviously, 'cause it's so ugly, so they gave it away to a dealer. Just a hypothesis. ::shrug::
