This forum is dedicated to the discussion and display of old knives. The rich history of all the many companies that made them through the early years will be found here as well as many fine examples of the cutlers art. Share pictures of your old knives and your knowledge here!
Great Stoof D!!
I posted this in the I*XL thread, but it belongs here as well;
Got this little treasure off ebay the other day. The seller said it was her grandfather's knife. It's been well used and well taken care. The old man put a hair poppin sharp edge on it too.
Been carryin it for a week now. Never been a barlow fan, but I LIKE this one.

Owd Wullie posted some nice Colonials a while back. Here is another with a different handle color. I know these knives are about the cheapest things ever made in America, but even so the guys at work marvel over the snap of the blades and the workmanship in general. They don't make knives like this any more...
We had a thread on this knife recently but I'd still like to put a shot on the Barlow thread since this is almost certainly the oldest Barlow most of us will ever see. As best we could figure, made by either Matthew or Luke Oates (I'll bet there were a Mark and John in the family as well), Sheffield England, late 1700s to early 1800s.
A Case XX
An unusual Colonial Barlow with a screwdriver secondary blade.
A Kent
A Marx,"safety" Barlow made of rubber.
A couple of Case Daddy Barlows;one I notched because it is almost impossible to open otherwise.
A Russell Barlow with sheepfoot main blade.
A couple of Schrade 206's someone gave me awhile back as partial payment for some pinstriping work.
A Swan Works miniature Barlow.
A Tip Top Barlow with a bone handle on one side and a wood handle(probably a replacement)on the other.I have a couple other knives that look to have been made this way at the factory;possibly as a salesman's sample.I don't think this one is.

1st post here Barlow man myself . I really like the Ka bar dogs head . I got bit by the barlow bug when I got my first about age 10 , If you didn't carry a pocket knife to school back then some thing was wrong with you. I'm 50 now and I think I own about 100 most are One arm Patterns.

Bought my first 2 barlows this weekend at the flea market.
Like I stated earlier in this thread I never cared for barlows but lately I have a liking for them .
I will post some photos after I take a good cleaning to these
Dale, as you may know already
the Heritage barlow is one of my favorites.
I have an '83 2661G plus an SC506 greenbone meself.
Seems like a good time to ask this question since I haven't
been able to verify it on my own.
Somewhere I read or heard the Heritage 2661G was a 1983 only issue.
Supposedly red and brown were only 1983 colors carried over for 1984.
Then as I understand it Barlow replaced for 1985-86 by the 2331 Jack.
That sound correct or are some of my wires crossed?
Speaking of barlows, here's the 2010 cCc forum knife.
Quantity 165 made.
Smooth chestnut 62009 1/2.
With a clip and a spear I figure it should have been
stamped as a 62009 3/4
Wow Wosey! That 2010 cCc Barlow is the cat's meow. That would be a good seller if they would put it in production, well I'd buy several of them anyway. It would be the cherry on the top if it was offered in CV steel too. I really like that Barlow.
Thank ye Aimus,
all the credit goes to Case and Koduck.
All I do is set 'em up and click the button.
NASA got chimps that can do that much.
I like the way you think, a cherry bone with CV.
Sounds like a weiner to me, I'll hafta throw that
in the Case suggestion box... w/ all due credit
given of course.
Here's one a bit older. Still not as antique as some prefer
but you (me) take what you can get.

Wosey, I like that cCc Barlow! I don't buy many new knives, but I am sorry I missed that one!!
Barlows with 2 large blades are hot stuff, IMO!
Ever since I saw an old sheffield one belonging to Tony Bose a couple years ago, with trapper blades in it, I've been looking for one!
I suggested it for the Bladeforums 2009 knife, and it got adopted, and is beautiful! Queen even put it in their own production. And now Case is on the bandwagon!
How did it get designed for cCc??
Utopia!! A chicken in every pot!! And a Barlow in every pocket!!!
