Customized Colonial LB125 All Stainless Steel

Post by snorkel »

This is a new Colonial LB125 Ranger Lockback customized with cocobolo scales and eventually a fileworked spine.

I have to say these are great for customizing, the liners and bolsters are stainless steel which are spot welded together for a very tight fit. It has almost the exact profile as a LB7, just a bit thinner, but because the SS is much stronger than brass it does not need to be as thick as a LB7.

The cocobolo is epoxied as well as pinned and I scrubbed the backside with acetone to remove the oil so the epoxy adhered well.

This is a great platform for customizing. I highly recommend it.
(I will be sanding off the blade etch, it's kind of cheesy :-)

The other neat thing about this knife is that it is so close to a LB7, you can put a LB7 butt spaceer, spine and blade in these for a stainless LB7, I am going to make one into a drop point LB7 at some point.

Here is a updated pic of this beauty:

I was going to do a vine pattern, but messed up and forgot to make marks every other 1/4 inch, so I did this instead,
still looks pretty good.
