Awesome explanation Mel! This 47 looks to be hollow grind according to my ruler test. I couldn't hold it and take a picture too but it definitely looks to be hollow grind. Case does use a hollow grind on some current production, the 3220 Peanut being one. Other current production Case knifes that I own are flat ground. Your 47 looks as if it might be hollow ground.
