I have an old fixed blade knife that I can't seem to find any information about Does anyone know a knife maker named J Hein ?

I’m guessing but looks like a German made factory knife rather than a custom knife.

I found the Hein name in Price's list of American custom makers and passed it along. O'.

Use the graphite (lead) end of a pencil and rub it on the stamp, as though scribbling on it. Then wipe off excess using a soft cloth. That will remove any loose rust, dirt or crud, but it will not harm or remove any metal. (Graphite is harder than rust but softer than steel.). It may help you read the letters. Does look like it says HEIN to me.

Certainly does look like a "J". Very nice looking knife but I'm afraid i have nothing on the maker. Nice find!

I just have a small collection started that knife is one of my favorites and it is a mystery. Thank you for your help
