Generic Uncle Henry questions

I got my first Schrade product (gently used) today in the mail and I must admit that its a well built quality slippie. I got an Uncle Henry 897UH and its impressive to say the least. I didn't think I was going to like the fake stag handles, but they are actually quite impressive.

I looked through the list of Uncle Henry's in the articles & research area and noticed that some of the UH's are listed having Schrade + steel, but the pattern I got does not have the note and has the stainless blades.

My questions are: Do most of the UH's come in both carbon and stainless steels? Are there value differences from a collectors stand point between the steels? I know there are lots of Schrade horders here, but for a newbie collector would the UH's be a good brand to start with? The price points are a little easier on my pocket book than say Case or Queen.

Thanks for any assistance.

The Uncle Henry line was Schrade's UPSCALE (read...faux stag Delrin, instead of sawcut Delrin) product. The line therefore was predominently offered in stainless blades, thought to be an upgrade by Schrade management. There were some early, early carbon blades, on a few fixed blades, I believe...but, I've not seen an Uncle Henry folder with carbon blades.
Even some of the traditionally carbon bladed Old Timers began showing up with one or more stainless blades, sometimes not marked with a +, near the last few years of production.

Others (Dale, Kaleb, Larry...) may have more to add.

Rob, as a newcomer to Schrades, may I suggest a trip to this great website.....

Thanks Bill, I actually ran across that site earlier today whilst searching for info. Thanks for the info on the stainless blades, that is helpful.
