Hi, all, I need help determining the handle material plus the shield on the handles and the tang stamp I don’t want to undervalue my knife would like a general idea on price too please

You should become acquainted with the Research section here (click on Research in the header at the top of this page, where you will find lots of info about Case (and other brands). Including this section about how to determine the age of a Case pocket knife https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... tification. Once you’ve determined the decade-specific stamp on your knife, then count the number of dots (or dots and X’s), subtract that number from 10, and you have the year within that decade that the knife was made. Your picture is a little fuzzy but it looks like 7 dots under the stamp - if so that makes it 1993.

The letter “A” in the first position of the pattern number stands for Apaloosa Bone. You can find that in the Research section also https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... -materials

Your best source of current value is an advanced search of eBay, for sold listings only of the item. You may not find the exact same item, but for most newer Case knives (post-1971) any knife the same pattern and decade (In this case any 6220 from the 1990s) is typically going to be about the same value.

It's hard to tell from your photo, but I believe the tang stamp has 7 dots (under USA) which would make it a 1993 year model.

The handle material is bone. If that is the original box, then the letter "A" in the pattern number would indicate Appaloosa bone; although, as the name suggests, Appaloosa bone is usually more splotchy and in your pics the green bone on your peanut appears less splotchy than most of the Appaloosa bone I have seen. Possibly the pile (back) side is more consistent with the typical Appaloosa style, which is not uncommon.

Not being a collector of the Peanut pattern 20, I can't offer an estimate on the approximate value, but I would suggest you read this thread for general information on determining knife values:

Doesn't the A on the box stand for Appaloosa? Is the knife in the wrong box?

I was wondering the same thing.

In my experience (with 07 mini trappers), some Appaloosas have an "A" in the pattern tang stamp and some don't. No clue why; different years, perhaps
