Cattleman Pocket Knife Made By ???

This is one pocket knife out of a group of nine that I purchased (not for this particular one).
There are absolutely NO markings of any kind, anywhere on it.
It appears that the punch/awl is "reinforced" at the tang.
It measures 3 3/8" closed.
So, who made this cattleman pocket knife?

I went through my accumulation of scout/utility knives and the only ones I saw with that type of punch blade were old solid bolster Imperials.Don't recall ever seeing an Imperial with ebony handles before but I suppose it is possible.

I have a Gamble Stores cattleman's knife with a similar reinforced punch. It was made by Camillus.
This is not definitive by any definition, but so far it is the only punch that I have seen that was built that way.

Those covers look like some sort of composite material to me.
That sheepfoot sure got taken down without any real sharpening.
I believe I have a reinforced punch on a knife ........ somewhere.

Funny I was going to mention Gamble Stores...I have seen and owned a number of knives marked GAMBLE STORES And they have all been in that exact same cattle pattern, with a variety of handle colors.

Hi Joe. I agree, I don't believe the handles to be ebony

The reason I feel that it is ebony or some other type of dark wood is upon enlarging the pictures I see tiny lines running parallel to the length of the handle that appear to be cracks starting.Synthetic materials are usually perfectly smooth and when they crack it penetrates all the way through usually. The "white" spot looks like something may have been spilled onto the handle and stained it. JMHO folks;your mileage may vary.

I think they are comp also.I have had several that have had the same look.There also is what appears to be some small amount of shrinkage.

Roger, it might be the angles that I took the pictures,
but I can assure you, there is NO handle shrinkage.

Ray, you were correct.
I removed that white spot with my fingernail.
The other "spot" that is to the right of the center pin,
is a tiny "hole", like the two tiny "holes" near the top pin.

I think the two "holes" you mention were created by whatever they used to set the pins in the handle.The last picture you posted reinforces my belief that they are made of wood.

I think the clue is the two piece punch blade.I have seen some Colonial made knives that used this method on other blades but they were small knives.

So multiple manufacturers made a reinforced tang on their punch blade. I knew it couldn't be that easy!

That punch bears a close resemblance to the Harrison "Patent" punch used on New York Knife models. Patent #701878, June 19, 1902.
(This one is on an H.S.B.) If the patent ran out in 25 years, other makers could use it after 1927 without a patent reference. Your Imperial is beyond that date. J.O'.

Handles look like plastic to me. The front side, from the picture you posted of the knife on edge, is extremely thin for it to be wood.
There is a remote possibility it is horn and those holes are dermistid beetle bites.
Take a pin heat the the tip red hot with a butane lighter and quickly touch the handle in the hole on the back side, if it is plastic you will smell it and it will melt into the handle material.
If it is horn it will burn and smell like burnt hair. I normally would not recommend a test like this but the knife is a low value knife and it would not sell for less with or without a tiny pin prick hole.

Maybe someone else had the same idea and that's what that hole in the handle is from.
