Kutmaster 4 blade stock knife

I just got this 4" Kutmaster 4 blade stock knife at a gunshow last weekend for a one dollar bill, but decided I wanted to get at this right away and get the old celluloid covers off. As you can see the seed corn advertiser covers are in real bad shape from shrinkage and cracking. Upon checking the handle material inventory I had, I found a pair of stag slabs would work out OK as far as size is concerned. The stag is a little bit light in color, but they match fairly good. This old knife has had some bad sharpening techniques applied more than once, but there is still enough to make a good EDC out of it.

Parts all cleaned up and ready

Clamping the new handle material while gluing to a piece of 3/8' stainless steel plate to keep everything flat

Hard to believe it is the same knife OC. Excellent work. I like the handles, they look good while being almost understated. Great work as always. ::nod:: ::nod:: ::tu:: ::tu::

The stag looks great on that knife. It looks like a substantial improvement over the original knife, and I think that deteriorating celluloid was about to start doing some damage to the metal. Outstanding save/conversion! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::

I like the old Kutmasters. You've restored dignity to a knife that I'd proudly throw in the pocket!

That long settles a question I've sort of had mostly due to bad eBay photos--it is a two-spring knife. I always thought due to four blades, it was a three-spring knife. '

Stag looks great on it! Now to get one of these knives finally and get the Mother of Toilet Seat off and replaced with something else.

Yes it is a 2 springer. I have a 3 blade Kutmaster stockman which is newer than this one. It is delrin handled, and the tangstamp is the same lettering, but a smaller font. This is the first 4 blade stockman I have. The steel in these Kutmaster knives seems to be of good quality, this one took a real good edge.
