Are etched knife blades more valuable?

Okay, this is my first post so I hope I'm doing it right. I have a number of very nice knives that have something etched on the blade. Some are marking anniversaries or other special occasions, some are commemorating different football championship games. In your opinion, does the etching add or take away from the knife's value? Would you not buy a knife because the blade is etched? Would you pay more for a knife that had something etched that you liked? Trying to get some feedback from the pros.

In the world of collectable antique knives those with original factory etches of the company name, knife model, or adverising will bring a premium over the same knife that once had that factory etch but it has been worn or polished off. Modern knives, many dislike etching on the knives, such as club names, modern events, etc. since many are put there just to supposedly increase collectability and things that are made to be collectable generally aren't.

I agree with Gunsil. Factory etchings can bring up value, but I believe it all depends on what is etched/and the quality of the etching. If someone has etched their name, anniversary, birth date, etc., expect for value to go down.
