All About Pocket Knives

OK, I know this is a little strange but I carry my EDC slip joint in a sheath. Sometimes my friends hack on me about it. They say "it's a pocket knife, it goes in your pocket!" I usually just ask them "why do you care how I carry my knife?" I know they are just funning around and I will continue to carry it in a sheath no matter what they say.

I am just curious if any other knife enthusiasts on this forum use a sheath for their slip joint or am I the black sheep among us?

Nothing wrong with that. Leaves room in the pockets for other knives!!! I carry a Case 6249 in a sheath.

From one black sheep to another, of course I use a sheath. My EDCs are too beautiful to be exposed to keys and other pocket paraphernalia which can dig and scratch and chip them.
However, I no longer roll them in the little piece of felt before slipping them into the sheath.

There's even another thread showing some purses...er, ah...sheaths.

I don't use a belt sheath, unless it's too big to ride comfortably in my pocket. But, on those times when I can't resist carrying something I really shouldn't - I have a little velour pouch, that goes in my pocket.

Invariably, when I do that... I never get an opportunity to use it, or show it off, tho'. (Unless asked, of course) Heh Heh Heh...

I sometimes wear an old nylon sheathe for a KABAR Hobo (Hobo was lost long ago). In it, I carry 2 "pocket knives". A CASE trapper and a CASE sodbuster. It is a perfect fit for those two.

Nope. But I'm one of the folks that think a phone, blackberry, i-pod, PDA, etc, shouldn't be worn on the belt either (in certain environments).
I work in an office and too many people there look like they're wearing a batman utility belt.
The only time I hang knives or anything else on my belt is when I'm outdoors hunting or fishing.

I'm not knocking anyone that does. Its just not my thing. I worry too much about losing them or snagging them on seat belts and such. (Maybe I'm just clumsey and making excuses )

I use a sheath, especially for larger knives. I have been looking for a Kershaw 4200 "Big Joe" for several years, since I gave my old one to a homeless client about 6 or 7 years ago. (The man need a knife to clean the fish he caught.)
This week I finally got a new 4200 off ebay. It arrived a couple days ago. Yep! I have it on my belt.

I also keep my Schrade Cut Co EDC in a 3rd Generation horizontal mount sheath. It fits perfectly & is out of the way.

Sheaths are a great invention, second only to the knives they hold.

Any knife I carry, that fits in a front pocket without causing me to walk lopsided, goes in a slipcase from cutters & collectors. The are a great bargain, and keep my knives from getting beat up from keys and change.

I saw on another post that MANLY BILL uses them too !

Here is a belt or pocket sheath I have. Made by our very own "sheathmaker" Paul Long. It has a clip on the back (a "Sissy" clip according to him) so it can go almost anywhere.

I sure would like to use any clip or belt sheath, but i I did use it in my school bus I would surly lose my crappy job....
