I think it's human nature to share our successes and keep our failures to ourselves, but I'll share one of my moments.

As an avid toothpick collector, it just had to be my first attempt at a custom leverlock auto. The second attempt was more along the lines of a classic design leverlock. Now I'm thinking I should have gone the other way around.

These two are looking pretty good here.
But...
Aaaarrgghhh blade peek!! Son of a.......................................................biscuit eater!!!

This is gonna take a full blown redo! It's headed back to the shop and I will not be defeated...hopefully?

You'll really have a fine knife when you get it fixed! I have never seen or heard of a lever lock conversion on one of those. It looks great!!!

normally a little tweaking can correct peek unless something is way off. I think that will be an awesome little knife when you get her tuned in

I'm glad I haven't ventured into autos yet. Looks to be frustrating, but rewarding.

That's the worst part of a build, getting to the end and realizing something isn't right. It totally sucks to take it all apart or rework it. Don't get discouraged!

Hey Kaleb, the fly in the soup on this one, is that it fires and locks perfectly fine in the open position. I'm afraid if I tweak it to the closed position, it will have an ill effect when open. Oddly enough, before I peened the last pin, it seemed to be working great and I'm wondering if it might be something as simple as a bent main pivot. I won't know until I get it opened up, but my biggest worry is losing the stag slabs. I thought I was being clever hiding the spring underneath, but if I have to build and install a whole new spring assembly, it means having to remove the handles.

Anyway, I'm gonna take a look at it this weekend and hopefully get it figured out. The second knife was a success, so I know I have a fair grasp on the concept of how it should work.

Sear hole diameter/placement, is usually the culprint, altering the closed sear hole will not affect the knife in the open position. a bent pivot is a possibility, also a pin that is too small in diameter will cause this. make sure it is pretty snug in the hole. of both the blade and the bolsters

looking good--I can mess up a fixed blade-my 1st attempt with mora blade blank- I could have written a book on WHAT NOT TO DO...including twisting the tang about 45 degrees while trying to thread it...

Ouch! Hope it all worked out.

I'm glad somebody came along and shared their oops moment, I was beginning to think I was the only one that had them!
