ID on this Marbles Fixed Blade?

Post by Paladin »

Guys,
I have this fixed blade Marbles that came to me when my Dad passed. It is not terribly old, 1960s would be my guess. The photo shows it with original and a custom sheath he had made. He thought the factory sheath was inadequate.
I had always called it an Ideal but in looking through the Marbles website, I suspect it is actually a bowie. Any ideas on this? :?

Paladin I'm not an expert or even close. But from what I've seen so far I think it is an Ideal. Looks like a 6" blade. Very nice knife!

Jim,
Thanks for the input. What caused me to doubt myself is that I had gone to the Marbles site and all the Ideals I saw have single guard as opposed to the double on mine.

Double guards were added to some knives around the end of WWII, if IIRC. Pretty sure that's an Ideal.

Its a fine looking Ideal at that
El lobo is right on concerning the double hilts
The moose & goose sheath suggests possibly 1950's
I would not think any earlier than that
