All About Pocket Knives

This was one of those schrade 89ot's with the serrated sheepsfoot blades, I never cared for them, besides-it was badly pitted, a little cleanup work, some blue/black jeancarta with brass pins, some continuous arrowhead filework out onto the blade and filed liners all around top this one off. Still trying to decide what to do with it.

Oh,oh..That jeancarta and wonderful arrowhead filework has transformed that knife into a beauty MM... You have really gotten my attention...

That file work is awesome!!

I really enjoy the arrowhead file work. That one and a good rope have to be my favorites. I always think because the arrowhead LOOKS simple, you have to be careful where you use it. Looks to me like you did this one perfectly and it has an elegant look. Great work!

This was my first attempt at the arrowhead filework, it took me somewhere close to 2-3 hours to do all the filework (including liners), talk about being nervous!

I know exactly what you mean, especially if it is a customer's knife.
I will draw out my patterns, and I try new filework patterns on the edge of a piece of 1/16" 1095 steel flat stock. That way I have a good idea of what to expect and what problems I might encounter when filing the backspring or liner.

You did good though! Better file work than some customs I have seen!

Thanks Dale. Yes, I practice on scrap too, so I can work out bugs before cutting the a backspring. Looks like this knife will have to find a new home. Texas knife supply just cleaned my clock
