I know what you mean Perry! I am going to have to try and straighten my friend Gino out. He seems to be being seduced by the dark side...singin46 wrote:Goodness Gino, I woulda never guessed you to be a Tactical guy!

John, they are carbon fiber handles
Ken, the clip is sweet, I prefer this one
I got the bug! I still dig my traditional folders but I am having a little thing with these.
I have always owned a few Benchmades (Sequel, Mini Grip, 710-new buy) but I am liking the Spyercos a lot right now too. If you go high end, these knives are awesome! AND SHARP as *&^%
::SUPER HAPPY::

LOL, it is marked DDP189/420J2 I think it means sharp as &6&^*%&jmh58 wrote:I know what the handles are..What is stamped on the blade for steel?? John
Its where they compress a outer layer of steel and sandwich a inner core of another steel, I don't know a lot about it but its been called a Japanese super steel.
Here is a quick video that I found that gets into the steel as well as the entire knife

Yes, VERY NICE John. I'm not real crazy about Trappers and don't care at all for bare end knives or worse yet knives with no bolsters BUT that Johnson. Oh my goodness mercy me, that Johnson. I slobber all over myself every time I see it. It and Gino's Moki.

Hey Perry, If you're carrying a Spyderco or a Benchmade in your pocket, you're not being Tactical you're being Practical!singin46 wrote:Goodness Gino, I woulda never guessed you to be a Tactical guy!

I agree with Mitch, what is often called "Tactical" is often very practical!MITCH RAPP wrote:Hey Perry, If you're carrying a Spyderco or a Benchmade in your pocket, you're not being Tactical you're being Practical!singin46 wrote:Goodness Gino, I woulda never guessed you to be a Tactical guy!I have love for all sharpened pieces of steel, Traditional and Tactical.

I generally carry both traditional and tactical type knives.
I pulled these out of my pocket and laid them on the bench and took a picture of what I am carrying right now.
I am working in the shop this morning, so pardon the messy workbench I just re-bladed a Camillus 707. The knives I am carrying today from top to bottom are:
CRKT #M16 – 14. It has AUS8-A steel with a chisel grind. This is an excellent edge dynamic for extreme sharpness.
Kershaw #1431 with ATS-34 steel. Crazy sharp!
Schrade #893. This is a knife I made from parts, takes a wicked edge and is very slim in the pocket.
Camillus Sword Brand trapper with Rogers bone handles. This knife is a gift from Lyle (thanks again Lyle!) This knife holds a great edge and I just enjoy using it because it feels so great in my hand.
Queen City jack – circa 1925 – 1945. This knife has a short master blade but is a real workhorse! Good for heavy duty cutting. Carbon steel and a fantastic edge.
I use all of these knives in a days time, some more than others. There are some applications for which the Kershaw worked better than the CRKT and others where I will use the Camillus. The Schrade #893 and the Queen City are used for more heavy duty applications where the knife could possibly be damaged. If I damage the blade in the Schrade I will replace it. If I damaged the Queen City I won't cry too much because it was an inexpensive knife and it's nowhere near pristine.
You will usually find me with at least one traditional and one so-called tactical pattern in my pockets at all time, yes even the church.
