The one in my pic is a 72 359 extended hood little window Pete. It had a 15 over with a 4spd aux with an over. 3.70 rears on 24.5 rubber. Hot 3406B Cat. It was a 120mph truck.
The one I posted was a 70 model W921 KW day cab single axle with a 335 Cummins and 4.10 Eaton. Fun little truck.
Here's some pics of both of them. I sold em both a while back and bought a motor home.

I have driven fire engines and ladder trucks many times. Not the same though.

I'm 71. Spent most of my life jammin gears. Had to give it up in 03 when Nam caught up with me. I bought those two old rags to play hobby trucker with. Stupid fuel prices took the fun out that.
I downsized and bought a 47 Ford Super Deluxe coupe to play with now. I've got an old D6B dozer I'm using to clean up my place to play with as well as a 1950 Harry Ferguson TO20.
Never drove any fire trucks. Fighting a big shipboard fire in the Tonkin Gulf convinced me I ain't no firefighter.

I was a professional FF for 34 years.
I actually owned a 1983 American LaFrance fire engine. It was on a Ford C8000 chassis with a Cummins diesel.
It had an Allison automatic transmission. I just sold it last month due to storages issues. I miss it already.

I know the feeling. I started out driving old stuff with two sticks. Drove a bunch of single stick stuff too. Hired on in one place because they had an old KW with a 5x4 and couldn't find anyone to drive it. Short Q&A session and driving test and I had the job running a gnarly old winch truck.
I do miss firing one up and clicking through the gears. I bought that little KW in Seattle and drove it home to Texas. Took my wife across Red Mountain. I was having the time of my life buzzing up and down the million dollar highway without a trailer. She was freaked out. She'd never seen mountains before that trip. She's from the ozarks and just thought she'd seen mountains. Lol
I used it help move from Texas to Missouri 5 years ago.

My new toy. 47 Ford Super Deluxe coupe. Was an old Arkansas moon shine runner. Still got the flathead and original running gear. Engine and drive train all rebuilt. Running 2in straight pipes. Flattie has been bored 80 over.

Had it on 15in tires. It didn't look right and was rough to turn the wheel sitting still. Had all 5 600x16 wheels. 4 with tires still on them from the 70s, 3 of which still held air! Bought a set of Coker Firestone repops. She looks and drives a lot happier now.

Slick ole survivor, I'm thinking it's got a '46 front end on it. But whatever it's sweet. x10.

Its cold and snowy here on the Northern Plains, so I have been rummaging thru some old books on the bookshelf. I have quite a few of the Outdoor Life books that were available back in the 60s and 70s that were all about hunting, fishing, camping and anything outdoor related. I have picked them up at gunshows over the years for a buck or two. Anyway I happened upon this in the volume pictured on page 246. Just wondering how many of you outdoorsman and campers have done this with your prized pocket knife to "illuminate the campsite?"

Believe it or not I have that same book. Somewhere. But I haven’t tried that trick with a pocketknife.

Friday we went to the Historic Stockyard District in Cowtown, and spent a couple hours at the John Wayne American Experience Museum. Lots of great pictures, movie costumes and props from John Wayne movies, plus personal photos and memorabilia. Definitely worth a visit especially if you’re a fan, or in the area.

I need to get down there and see that Duke museum. I am only about 30 minutes away from it.

On a side note, our best friends were down at the Stockyards Saturday night eating at Coopers BBQ, and someone stole their fully restored 2000 Ford Excursion (w/ 7.3 diesel). On monday the cops caught an illegal alien in their bait car, and he had their check book in his pocket. Hopefully they can get their vehicle back, if it is not already in Mexico.

My Ford F150 was stolen in San Antonio back in the day. I discovered it missing when I left the house to go to work. The police told me that it was likely already in Mexico. I don't mean to add to the misery of the situation but I suspect theirs is there or on the way there.

They told her thieves could strip one in minutes. It had over 200,000 miles on it but was in good shape. Apparently parts from older SUVs are hot items.

Got my Buck 110 back from factory with a new blade and spitshine and a sticker was included.

Little did they know I'm an Uber Eats driver........they're gonna get a lot of free advertising!!!

I hope it was insured...the owner might not want it back if found and it had been abused.

Some border crossings have license plate readers, but getting data from one for local purposes would not be easy.

I picked this up at an antique shop yesterday, because I love old things and I collect Barlow knives.
