Did you cross the new bridge there at the dam, Blue? I understand you can't drive across the dam anymore.

Hey Jerry, You can cross over the dam, but the road ends on the Arizona side. You can drive over, but have to turn around and drive back.
The pedestrian walkway on the new bridge is fantastic! That's where the second photo was made.

I've done that trip myself Blue. The Grand Canyon is one of my favorite spots on the planet. The neon canyon of Vegas..............not so much. Hope you had a great trip. Nice pics by the way. ::tu::

That's my thought exactly. My favorite part of the trip was hiking Bright Angel Trail. The scenery is just as fantastic down in the canyon looking up as it is standing on the rim looking down!
Didn't like the smell of donkey poo all along that trail though - whew! ::mdm::

What's the matter Blue? You don't like the smell of fresh country air? I rather enjoy it. It reminds me of living on the farm when I was a wee lad.

Got to agree. Las Vegas Strip is a pit. Dirty and littered. You would think they would use some of the $$$$$$$$ they suck out of the tourists pockets each year to spiff it up. Probably the greed kicking in.

lol. Unfortunately, my memories of the Las Vegas strip will be of walking on the sidewalk dodging all the people trying to give you fliers for the strip clubs.
Oh yeah, and these guys...

Last year my son bought 110 acres of land, halfway between Inverell and Bundara in the Australian Bush.
1. No power and the cost to have it connected $58,000.00.
2. No phone lines for fax or internet and poor mobile reception in the area.
3. No household water or sewerage.
4. No gas for cooking or heating.
5. No drinking water.

My son built a house on that property and runs a Stock and Transport business from home.

1.The power system uses batteries and 12 solar panels and is backed up with a diesel generator;
In the winter the cost to run this system is about $20 per month for diesel.

2. Phone, fax and internet comes from a Telco tower about 25 miles away – using a 32 element beam antenna system.
3. Household water comes from a small river that runs through the property and a septic system provides sewerage.
4. GPG gas is used for cooking and heating water – a Slow-combustion heater uses wood, for heating.
5. Drinking water comes from flitted rain water from the roof.
This property’s running costs are a little over $400 a year.

The power supply stores power in six 12volt batteries – They cost almost $6000 and they are charged by the sun most times. A back-up charging system using a diesel generator can be used, when there is no sun for 2 or 3 days. All up this system cost me about $12000 to make, and it runs all the house power for less than $5 a week. Ken ::groove::

Nice!
Being both a closet tree hugger and an overt tightwad, I love that system on at least two levels. ::tu::

I knew about them dying it green for St. Pat's day but have never been down to see it. I try to avoid Chicago whenever possible. I wonder how much dye it takes to get it that shade of green.

Good question but I'm clueless. I avoid big cities to the extent possible. Grew up in Chicago. Do think the downtown/lakefront area is pretty spectacular. My nephew is on the right.

I'm sorry. Are you still in Illinois? Doesn't look like it from what I could see in the pictures with the sword.

I live about 50 miles east of LA. Now there is a city to avoid.
