Actually Ken, LL Bean is back to making Bean boots in Maine and another shoe shop I believe Brookfield just took a military contract from china ::groove::a couple of Robesons today.

Still carrying my new to me 4" Boker jack

Was down at the coast to surf fish on Core Banks for a couple of days - I prefer stainless when in a salt water environment so I carried my favorite 6347SS. That Moki of yours sure is growing on me Gino! Dogg, I never knew the DOD had contracted boots to the Chinese - always thought that was against DOD military procurement regulations. My favorite boots for my last ten years of service were the Matterhorn "Mountaineer" made by Cove in PA, prior to that I wore Corcoran, also a PA made boot. OH

dogg -- I like the bolsters on the top one. I think GEC is calling them "Washington Bolsters" now days, after that #77 Charlie Campagna Washington Jack. It's a treatment I don't see enough of to get burned out on.

I thought the samething OH but about 9 or 10 months ago there was a BIG artical in the Portland paper that a Maine Co. won the contract ya 'ot too see the the ship parts they want to outsource to overseas companys this WILL be a BIG problem

While I don't argue, the Washington Jack is a fine, fine knife and I am proud to own one, my vote for the best (by a whisker) has to go to the Huckleberry Boy's Knife they brought out in '12. For me, it's simple good looks capture the old jack knife flavor of the early 20th century. Maybe I should put together a display using just those two. What a winning combination.

Jerry I am also a big fan of the simple yet elegant Huckleberry Boys Knife! Here is mine the day it arrived, all shiny and new. It looks much different now, as it has a nicely earned patina, and I had Glenn add a small diamond shield to it, but right outa the tube it just felt good to me. Great knife.
