Just read the "Empire" book this winter, working on " Comanche Empire" by Pekka Hamalainen. about 450 pages. Detailed history book, a bit hard to read for long periods.

Here is my faded picture of Quanah Parker and the book "Empire of the Summer Moon". Have you read it?

I jumped on Amazon and bought "Quanah Parker and His People". :)
Found a copy in a thrift store for a couple of bucks.
Good read. I enjoyed it.

robpa, I have "Comanche Empire" but I haven't read it yet.

Thanks Steve. ::tu::

Here are some turtles and frogs that were at the pond yesterday. They must have scared the birds away. :)
For warm water creatures these critters are in cold water.

Today we received our long awaited shed. The photos of this minor event lack much appeal, but for me it was a bit of excitement in an otherwise bland day. I was relieved to see the truck and shed succeeded in crossing our creek and made it up the hill.

The open area extending beyond the concrete pad was filled in with cinder blocks. A ramp up to the front will be the next project.

Q.S. I've been torn about purchasing one of those sheds myself. My basement garage is overflowing but I have not given up on the idea of building a detached garage. My basement garage runneth over and something is gonna have to give. I hope your new shed building meets all your needs. It sure looks nice. ::tu::

Hi Phil,

I understand about overflow and so does my sister, so you have my sympathies. Yet it is amazing how much "stuff" piles up. Still, the shed looks capacious and should relieve some of the storage pressure inside the house. Personally, I must try and convince my sister to use this opportunity to throw away a lot of unnecessary items. Otherwise, we will just be shuffling things from place to place.

QS . Really nice shed you had delivered. Hope it works out for you and your Sister.
A friend from church had us price one out for them . We couldn’t build it on site any cheaper than he had one delivered ready to go . So he went that route and used the shed for his new Solar panel system . He’s now selling energy instead of paying Excel Energy for there services . And the shed has allowed him to park his Car in the garage again .
You take care down there and enjoy the green grass and Spring time . ::handshake::

Thanks JP. The shed manufacturer saved us $2k over having Lowe's put one together for us. So we are pleased with the price and quality. The most impressive shed I saw was built as a dog house. It was superbly done, two rooms and a porch. Could almost have lived in that myself. :)

We went below freezing last night so I am more than ready for spring.

Went to mountain to refill generator in snowcat and Polaris Ranger with snow tracks.
White out. Hard to tell where the wild ride off the side started.
Blew the heater in the cat and windows fogged.
Turned around. Hope to get heater fixed today for another try tomorrow. Massive snow drifts.

Take more pics tomorrow. These pics from myself in Polaris behind the cat...

Thanks Garry.

We will make it tomorrow. We actually have to take winter survival training as part of cert.
Steep drop off side is biggest concern.

Hope life is well.

Hey Joe. In spots on that road, it is not a place for error if you like making it back in one piece. In others, not as severe but still not a place you want to visit.
The white out was worse than pictured up the road.

Preferred to get the heck out versus a pic.
We would have kept going had we not lost the defroster on the cat.

Tomorrow's another day. Likely better visibility with insane drifts. But the snow tracks on those UTVs work pretty amazing.

Ken,
It has been a pretty good year for the wildflowers around this part of Texas. I was out and about today and noticed that the Bluebonnets were starting to fade but others were holding up nicely.
For those not familiar, my location is a couple hundred miles south of Kens location.
