What about the Kershaw butchering kit? I've never seen one of those before. I'm thinking these deer hunters would be jumping all over that.

Hit an estate sale and a couple pawn shops today....

That US camp/scout all metal in the lower left corner is stamped Q1986

Knice haul Scott I believe that's the only year Queen made those military type knives.

bighomer, that's interesting to know that 1986 was the only year Queen made those knives. I have one in my Queen drawer and sure enough it is stamped Q 1986. The stamp is upside down compared to most stamps.

In reference to the Q1986, that looks exactly like the Camillus style knives I sold in the 'ship's store' when I was in the Navy. From 1982 - 1984, I ran the ship's store onboard the USS Aubrey Fitch FFG 34 and the lead SH (Ship's Serviceman) ordered about 100 of these style knives, which I sold for $5.00 each. I used to call them the "Line Handlers" knife, because if you lost it overboard while working on deck, then you were not out much, and the sailors would come back and buy another one. I sold out of them in about two weeks...they were very popular with the Bosun'Mates. They would use these knives for line braiding and making 'monkey fist's' for bolo lines.

Anyway...some of you sailors of Navy life will know that of which I speak. Just an interesting experience of mine during my Navy tenure.

Picked these two from a flea mall Saturday.
Schrade PH2 in near mint condition. A bit of verdigris polished right off.
And a long line Camillus is in terrible condition. Took two doses of Kroil
to get the blades working.

Chris, I have a couple sizes of those Schrades. They feel great in the hand. I heard they were too expensive for people that were buying Schrades and considered them a less expensive knife and didn't want to spend what they were asking for those new. They really are a nice little knife. The Camillus electricians knife is the same one I was issued in the Air Force as a Weather equipment technician. ____Dave

Camillus - USA - 1968 Military scout nife
Cornwall - USA - NY Cell - (Goins dates this tang at 1900-1920)

Just have to clean em up.

I have been looking for one of the Camillus knives dated 1968.. I carried one in my survival vest while flying night missions over the Ho Chi Mihn Trail in 1968. Out of Ubon Thailand. Missions were called Blind Bat missions in a C-130.

Couple estate sales this morning....

I have, I think, that same model Dexter (12" blade!). It is a monster of a blade. My great-Granddad used it to clean entire sides of pork off a hog. I mostly use it for light brush clearing. The steel in that thing is great.
