Can anybody provide some information on this Cadillac Craftsman knife? The tang stamp is "Schrade Walden NY". I can find pictures on line, but no details or descriptions.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Welcome to AAPK. Glad to have you aboard.
The only thing I know about it is, I have one in pretty much factory condition. Wish I could be of more help. (Please excuse the poor pictures.)
Forged on the anvil of discipline.

Re: KNIFE FINDS OF THE DAY
Every knife in that case is an Imperial Knife Associated Companies product. Schrade patterns and Frontier patterns. Great set! I want one!
I have no specific knowledge regarding when these were made but educated inferences can be drawn.
The "Schrade Walden" tang stamp itself dates it from 1946 to 1973. The knife is a variation on the 2-7/8" senator pattern Schrade called the 778 or 778-SS or 778RB. Same knife, different model numbers at different times.
The standard 778 had a flexible nail-file instead of the second pen blade. It first showed up in available catalogs in 1953 and stayed there with some minor name changes right through to 1973.
The presence of a "Razor Blade Stainless" etch would narrow the date a bit as they didn't add the RB suffix until the 1965 catalog when it became the 778RB to fit their stainless campaign of the era. An etched knife would likely be 1965-1973.
1953 catalog
1965 catalog
1973 catalog
Your knife would have been a SFO (Special Factory Order) commisioned by Cadillac itself or a dealer etc to be given out as a freebie to good factory workers or perhaps dealer repairmen or everybody at a certain conference etc. It's an SFO because that's not a standard catalog blade configuration so it's not just a 778 with "Cadillac Craftsman" put on it.
Chrysler handed out the knife pictured below to their dealer mechanics at at least one conference. Same sort of deal.
I don't always respond to great posts but I always appreciate seeing them. Thanks for posting!

Same, same the Miracle Whip series. Started in 1937, ended in 1988. They are 778's as well.

What about the Kershaw butchering kit? I've never seen one of those before. I'm thinking these deer hunters would be jumping all over that.
