Not sure what to do with it, but it certainly is an interesting piece.

I wonder if anyone has ever made a knife handle out of a shark tooth? Sure seems dense enough.

Well, I'm certainly no expert on fossils and their values by any means; however, after looking at a number of pages of "sold" megalodon tooth fossils on eBay, I can tell you that there is a very wide range of prices for these artifacts. As best I can tell, the value, much like with vintage knives, seems to be relative to the condition of each tooth. The prices range from as low as $10 all the way up to hundreds of dollars per tooth (one sold for $9,500 but I have no clue why that one in particular was considered so valuable )...most were in the $50-$100 range (my friend paid $66 for the one he gave me).

Today I came off the light duty roster and decided to tackle what I suspected to be a bad bearing on the left front of our old Club Car woods cart.
Sure enough, the inside bearing on the left side was shot. Shouldn't be a problem, run into town and pick up a set of bearings, new races and a seal. Found the bearings at O'Rielly's but no seal. Chipley Auto could get the seal by Monday, they suggested going to the next town west of us and try over there. Well, that didn't work either but they'll have one in the morning. No problem, we were going that way again for another reason tomorrow. Took a couple of pictures of my old woods cart and its predicament: Treefarmer

TF, it sounds like you are having some "wheel" problems.

My buggy has been making some grinding noises as well. It's either a wheel bearing, the prop shaft, or a CV joint in one of the axles. I can't tell where the noise is coming from, so I guess I'll just drive it till a wheel falls off.

How do you like those pod lights? I have some on the back and sides, along with the light bar in front. I love'em

Unk, those lights work very well. They light up the world! The old cart is electric, 48 volts, six eight-volt batteries, the lights are running on 16 volts.
When I bought this thing, we tried out a gas cart and then an electric one, rolling along on the dirt road you hear nothing but the tires humming and, in the woods, going slow it is very quiet. I can drive up to my shooting house and deer in the plot aren't aware of the cart as we are behind an old grown up fence row.
Obviously, it is not a 4-wheel drive, but it has served us well for many years. We've been stuck several times over the years but usually it'll go where I need to go. I've had to air down the rear tires a few times for some added traction. Our farm has a lot of wet places and I've been stuck with our zero-turn mower more times than I care to remember. Used to go get the tractor or the truck and my wife to get me unstuck. Last couple of years we've used the old cart and a nylon strap, lots easier than firing up a tractor. I can haul the cart to our lease on the same trailer I use for the mower and I can pull trailer with the cart to move the mower around the farm where you might have to ford a bit of water.
Several years ago, I used it to pull an old high-wheeled grain drill out of a shed to clean it up and get ready to plant some oats. It did such a good job I decided to use the cart to plant the food plot. It worked very well for a round or two and I got to smelling something. Pulling to many amps heated up the battery cables to where you could smell the insulation. Unhooked the drill and rode to the house and got a tractor to finish the job.
It ain't much to look at but it does the job.

Mike, I had a Polaris exactly like yours for several years. Before that I had an old Kawasaki Mule. You’re right on about those light bars- they really light up the night! I sold the Polaris 900 and bought a newer one, an XP 1000, that had very few hours on it. Here’s a picture of the newer one (2019 model). First thing I did was put a light bar on it. They’re real workhorses and will go just about anywhere wide enough to drive through.

Thanks TPK. Mine is usually not that clean - I had just washed it last summer. It usually has caliche dust, sawdust, and mud all over it.

TF, they sure are handy to have. My driveway is about 400 yds down a hill with about 35 feet of elevation change. I bought a little trash can hitch to haul the trash can down to the gate and back once a week. I also use it to haul firewood & brush, move my trailers around, check the game cameras, run to get Amazon packages and mail every day, run over to the neighbors house, etc. Plus it's fun to just drive it up on a hill with the wife and watch the sunset.

For hunting, electric is the way to go. Polaris came out with a new electric Ranger a couple of months ago. It's pretty impressive.

Ken, those doors are nice! I like the newer body style of the 1000. But I'll have to wear this one out before I get a new one!

Looks like you’re keeping yours busy. They’re real handy - it’s amazing all the things they’ll do. My old Mule was worn out when I got it but it lasted a few more years before I retired it and got the Polaris 900. It was still going strong when a friend of my son wrecked it. He paid me for it and I found the used 1000.

The doors are nice in the winter, and it’s air conditioned! The doors remove easily though - they lift straight up off the hinges, no tools required. To put them back they just drop back onto the hinge pins.

Even if yer running 5,000 acres; @ $600,000-$700,000 each, yer barely scratching 2 pennies together. Leasing doesn't help you any (100 grand a year, each).

Nev, I see all those fine whitetails but what is all that white stuff on the ground?
I’ve watched a lot hunting shows with snow on the ground and it would appear the contrast between the deer and the snow would be a great help. We can sometimes produce a similar contrast here in the South while hunting over a “green field”.
Personally I think the Whitetail deer is one of the most beautiful creatures of God’s creation and they are mighty tasty, too!

I agree with you Treefarmer. They are beautiful animals. I love to hunt them when it snows, they do stand out. Only problem this year all I did was take my Bow and Gun for a walk. I had 3 Bucks I watched all summer and kept waiting for them. Bow season too far away. Gun season not a clear shot. When I finally decided to shoot a doe, I did not see any. dang:: Now that season is over 51 in the field the other night. As I have gotten older, I am more selective. Maybe next season. Any way If they all are bred, I should have a lot to choose from.

The way to hunt mate, be selective, only take what you need, and no shot without clear shot.

I don't know the exact cost, but i would hazard a guess of around $500,000. I saw a big one at an agricultural show about 4 years built for large acreage cropping, it had a really wide cutting comb, it was $500,000. This one has a lot more computer programming.

This thread needed a reboot. Friend sent me a copy of this, was a fire in their district a couple of weeks ago when we had some hot, but really humid weather. Makes you realise how scary a bush fire can be.

Here’s the results of a successful “fishing” trip. The large lump on the deck is the bottom half of the steam driven general service pump for the steam boat Medea. We’d spent the better part of the day extracting it from the engine room. The toothpick chewing fellow in the middle is yours truly.

For some reason the photo flips upside down when I enlarge it, and I can’t seem to stop it doing that
