Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
I drove over to a busy subdivision along the Mississippi today for some railfanning. I was rewarded with plenty of UP action, 6 trains in a little over an hour. Here are a few pics.

"Can you give us some of the basic things that would have been on the menu at the Irondale Cafe?"
As a boy, the only thing Mom ever bought there for me were cheeseburgers and fries. I have no idea what the rest of the menu was like, but probably pretty much like every other small town 1950's cafe.
Now, it's a restaurant and of course, they serve fried green tomatoes. But, really, there are better to be had in town at any one of a number of BBQ restaurants.

Give me the old 1950's cafe menu any day. Good cheap food for the average person/worker. Cheeseburger and fries.RobesonsRme.com wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 5:59 am "Can you give us some of the basic things that would have been on the menu at the Irondale Cafe?"

Thanks , Tom, those are a couple of good ones. I kept trying to come up with a good caption, but the only one I thought of using was from the old Linda Ronstadt song......."that train don't run by here no more.......poor poor pitiful me"
Glad you liked my offbeat picture.

Re: Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?
I did some more work on the Yards layout this past weekend while at the farm. I still need to get the remote switches working properly but I think I'm happy with the track setup.

Would be a good project to do, try some ballasting, ground cover and some landscaping, and maybe some small infra-structure. That may get him interested as he sees progress and looks at it and says " I did that ", with unc's help.1967redrider wrote: ↑Thu Jan 27, 2022 3:49 am
