What is Your Latest Old Schrade?

Schrade Cutlery Company was founded in 1904 by George Schrade, and his brothers Jacob and William Schrade. In 1946 Imperial Knife Associated Companies, (IKAC; an association of Ulster Knife Co and Imperial Knife Co) purchased controlling interest in Schrade Cut Co and changed the name to Schrade Walden Cutlery. In 1973 the name was changed to Schrade Cutlery. In 2004 Schrade closed due to bankruptcy.

This forum is dedicated to the knives that are the legacy of this company. This forum is not the place to discuss the replica knives currently being imported using the Schrade name.

C6 you sure know how to end the year with your fantastic haul  Lloyd

Thanks kj! but I'm not anywhere near pro level. I try to do the best I can though, since in our hobby, photos are everything. Pros would have used a light box or auxiliary lighting for these shots but I prefer natural lighting and you pretty much have to take what it gives you at any given time.

This cut co is a little rough but the price was right. I looked it up in schrade catalogs and I'm pretty sure it's an 8913. Clip is down a bit but other two are all there and its snappy ::nod::

Yep! looks like a 8913. Is it 3-1/2" long?

That's a good one, alright! ::tu::

Here is one that is a little unusual. Schrade Cut.Co. never made fixed blade knives. None. In nine years I have seen three with SCCO tang-stamps. The first two were identified by a respected researcher of Schrades as being made for them by Kinfolks. The third one is this one. I don't know who made it. The sheath was missing; that might have helped. Hammered pins and brass guard. Nice bone, with one chip at the butt. Probably marketed to boys, it is just shy of eight inches overall.

Wonderful piece Cal! I got a two-fer today, walden 899 peachseed (with NS liners ::super_happy::) and a walden scout with no pattern number. I'm quite happy with both, the spey on the 899 is very elegantly shaped and the scout has a big honkin' screwdriver.

The utility knife appears to be a 914. Look here in the '68 catalog.... http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/ ... W-CATS.pdf

U.SA. is missing on your tang stamp. That means it was quite early- closer to 1950 than to 1960. ::tu::

Here's a cool, little S-W, 3-1/8" equal end jack, with strata-wood handles. It's the open stock #243 and was only made from 1953-'54. Not a safe queen, just a good HOK. It actually looks better in hand, than the photos I could get of it, in the available light today.
