I'm gonna go with either pheasants or grouse - clues - shotguns and bird dogs and the game is too large to be pigeons, doves or quail and the feathers are wrong to be ducks or geese.jerryd6818 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 12:42 am You wasn't much of a man back in those days unless you had a woolly worm under your nose.
I can't figure out what brand of critters they have piled up there.

Superb photos. Looks like you have a very fine location. Is it the Ohio river you are overlooking?

Excellent shots, Roger. We had some freezing fog here a couple of days ago, it makes for great pictures.

The hills you see in the background are in Kentucky. The Ohio river is about 3/4 of a mile across the river bottoms. .Quick Steel wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 6:18 pm Superb photos. Looks like you have a very fine location. Is it the Ohio river you are overlooking?

Nice pics, Cudgee. Those look very similar to Texas! Well, maybe not this past week, but under normal conditions!
After -2 degrees earlier this week, it hit 70 degrees, blue skies and sunshine here today, and folks were wearing shorts and T-shirts.
We finally got our water back on this afternoon, after going 7 days with no water. It was about as much fun as it sounds like it would be. Luckily we have good friends and neighbors who kept us supplied with water.

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Thanks Cudgee. I was able to keep the house and the shop / apartment warm enough that we didn't have any pipes damaged. About half the folks out here have water wells, and the other half are pay a utility company. The utility company didn't fare so well with the cold weather, while most of my neighbors with wells didn't have many issues. I may have to look into getting a well dug.
Having said that, these were record low temperatures - the coldest since 1949 or so. Probably won't see them again in my lifetime.

Great photos, Roger.
Looks like a good place to live.
Walking along the river in Saskatoon yesterday and spotted these two guys trolling by. It was fairly warm yesterday (about 24 degrees F), but still would be cold sitting in an aluminum boat in 32 degree water.

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Reading about the once in a lifetime cold snap across America, power outages, roads blocked, and all utilities out of action or under extreme loads, i wonder how these old cisterns would have coped with all the water pipes frozen.
