A friend of a friend called me and asked if I would look over a bunch of knives he has planned to sell in an estate sale to see if his prices were OK, and that I could have first shot at them. he had 4 tackle boxes full. I upped his prices on about a dozen. On several he had $1 on $30 to $40 knives. When I got done I set aside these 5 that I was interested in. He gave me the Sheffield Cambridge Works horn handled jack, the Marshall Wells Bowie hunter and the Balloon ebony Ulster Knife Co. jack and the Taylor compass for helping him with pricing, and sold me the J A Henckels Premium Stock Knife with massive stag and the early Utica hawk bill for $45. Knice haul pal!!

Now I have three! It’s a collection!
For some reason - ok, probably because of my first and favourite fixed - I do like Pal Brand. Not Pal Blade or Pal Cutlery, gotta be Pal Brand. It’s actually Utica Knife and Razor, but made in Germany.
This one is just in awesome shape. Sharp too.
I picked it up at the Vancouver Flea Market (Red Barn). I almost missed it too, but one of the guys, whom I’ve bought fixeds from, pointed out that the new guy had a few knives way down at floor level. Well, and thank you! Off I went. Yeehaa, touchdown!

I scored these at a yard sale Saturday this was one of those deals you didn't see coming and had to act fast. When I saw the knives they were in a little box on the table. I looked at the Case and was pretty sure the tang stamp dated it in the 60's and thought I would try to get it for about $35 because it was really dirty. I asked how much to which the old man responded "I want to sell all of them at one price". so I asked how much again thinking he was going to come back with some ridiculous price when I heard him say how about 5 bucks each $20 for all four. Of course i replied with a crisp $20 bill. Anyway here they are 1965-1969 Case Barlow, 1940-1964 Robeson Harness Jack, a Chinese made lockback with a tractor on it. The last knife I don't know what it is or what it is called but I've seen similar knives before so if you folks know anything about it please share. I'll post a few pictures so you can get an idea of how it works

Wow what a great deal on the top two. Th last two are just throw in's. I have heard that last one described as a 'funny folder'. Don't know if that is the official name. For me that Robeson has the most appeal but a really great group. Congrats.

That was one of my best scores here's a couple more great deals I've gotten over the years I bought this new in package Buck 119 at the local Goodwill for $10:00 they had written the price as 10 o'clock instead of $10 this LNIB Spyderco Manix Light I found new at a pawn shop no doubt mispriced at $29

IH, That's an interesting letter opener you have there...I wouldn't mind seeing a little more of it.

It's a John Watts with early plastic scales and advertising for an insurance company. It also has their Plati noid stamp on the letter opener. John Watts made a lot of advertisers and all metal knives. The slow death of the company is a rather interesting story.

Thanks for the closer look..I was hoping that shield was metal and maybe it is. I can't tell. I'll have to read up on them when I get some time.

It is a metal engraved sheield. Definitly a well made advertiser.

If you ever go to Shepherd Hills, CASE XX, in Branson, MO. be sure to asked for Virgil or Dominic they will treat you right. We talked for awhile and when I selected the two CASE Knives with Driftwood Handles they just about gave me the cedar box with the CASE logo on top. I also got the Spring 2019 catalog and two new friends.
I have a lot of research to do and I'm hoping I can come to all of you fine folks for help. I don't think I made a bad buy, but if I did please don't hold back, learning requires some mistakes. I will post some group and individual pic's also.

Very nice group of knives! Trying to identify them shows how little I know about knives. The 2 Case knives on the box and the little Sodbuster and the Queen in the top row are the only ones I can pick out. The Canoe and the doctors knife say Case on the handle but the rest are a mystery to me. A very successful knife finding trip!
