Had this one out and couldn't put it back in. Love the bones, the unused blades, the jigging, and the super smooth, tight, no wobble action that isn't a nail breaker. Man Schrade did some fine knives back in the Walden day.

Another spectacular knife, Iman!
I can't help but think that the worst knife you have is better than anything I will ever acquire.
Good for you. It's not easy to compile such a fine collection, and I'm so glad you share it with us! Keep on keepin' on! Thanks, Kerry

You nailed it. Same with me. Those two have great color in the bone. Know what they call that color? It's great whatever, and thanks for the comment. I know it's not bone, but this one is one of those I saw and had to have just for the covers. Love the horn though. Thanks again bud, great to have you back.Papa Bones wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 1:23 am![]()

Super nice I-man!! Besides the patterns it is sometimes the look of the bone scales that sway me also. I picked these two up earlier in the year just because the look of the handles. Well, the Razor also kind of swayed me.

Re: BONES BONES BONES
Thanks a bunch toomanyknives, doglegg, and GSPTD. Very nice of you gents to be so complimentary. I must confess it was Knifeslinger and Tongueriver that got me into Schrade about 7 or 8 years ago. I never would have bought any had it not been for their collections and beauties that they shared with us and their comments about the nice Schrade carbon steel etc. I used to say the kinds of things you three said about theirs. Now I can't believe someone is saying it about my stash. But appreciate it and thanks guys. Always nice to hear that kind of feedback, although don't sell yourself short toomanyknives. You have some fabulous stuff. I enjoy seeing everything you post and keep them coming. But if it wasn't for Those two and guys like Q, FRJ, Producer (he never met a Schrade he didn't like), Guarddog, Mitch Rapp, Just Plain Dave, Mad Hungarian, Dwebb, Bomba, Sunknife, Quick Steel, Brumblydownunder, Ken98, Old Hunter, zp4ja, Colonel26, Jerry6818, Carmillus, FFF, Dinadan, dcgm4, Grump, BigHomer, Muskratman, Glennbad, Treefarmer, Junebug, 313Mike, JohnR, Steve Warden, Singing46, Philco, Gino, Baykeeper, Basser, Mumblypeg, knifeaholic, knifeknut, and I could go on. But these are some off the top of my head that I have watched their posts and followed their lead and if my pile is worth anything, it's because of those I learned from and watched and followed and became an addict because of.
Just kidding on that last sentance. But the rest is God's honest truth. Thanks again for the mention gents.

Thanks I-man. I didn't really know much about them, mainly just liked the handles. Good looking kife you got there. That is some good looking horn on yours. Yeah, I'm kinda fond of horn handles also.Ivoryman wrote: ↑Sun Aug 20, 2023 1:30 am

Thanks again bud, great to have you back.I love that horn! I had my share of sweet horn handles... but for me I am out in the country and I open my door and 10 moths get sucked in my house... and I have had some BAD attacks on those handles ... I suspect from moth larvae in the house eating away at the handles. So, I have tended to stay away from horn (I love Ram's Horn) the past few years.
... So, Horn and Celluloid... the two banes of my knife collecting

Really? Had never heard that. Had no idea maybe all these moths were dangerous. Thanks for the info, will definitely get some moth balls and try to keep them away. Maybe store the horn in wood boxes with no way for moths to get in. We have lots of moths and bugs around. Great, another threat to the collection I didn't even know about. Live and learn. But do appreciate you telling me.

I-Man, as I get older I feel as if I am fighting the fact that everything seems to be continually deteriorating... especially ME
I love horn I-Man, but I have shifted to Bone and Stag because this type of bug damage has happened too many times...

Adding to the bones, an old Imperial EZ Open I got a few months back. It has the IMPERIAL PROV. RI. Tang Stamp on the main blade and USA on the pen blade. Blades have good snap with no wobble and it still has the lanyard ring/loop. Pretty good looking bone scales, almost a greenbone.

Besides my mind and body...
My Car, my house, and worse of all... MY KNIFE COLLECTION!!!
Take a look at the photo of the fixed blade that I have attached. That was a perfectly fine horn handle... key word "was"

Then the bugs came....

Sorry to see that. Big bummer and so sad. Have you tried moth balls or bug spray or something to curb them? Gotta be something to slow them down. Do you know what kind of larvae they are? Will have to rethink my point of view on horn. Thanks at least for bringing it to my attention. At least now I can watch it and try to keep it in sealed bags or boxes a bug can't get into. Thanks and I get it now. And completely agree on aging bodies and machines etc. I used to be most concerned with how things performed and what they do for us. Now I'm most concerned about how much maintenance they will require and how much time and money it's gonna cost me. Sign of the stage of life we're in I guess. Thanks again.

I sold a $500 fixed blade I loved, with the most beautiful ram's horn scales ... just because I was afraid of what could happen to the handle....
