Thanks guys. She majored in Art, and now teaches High School Art. She knows Lonesome Dove is my favorite TV Show and book series. I had seen some of those signs for sale on the internet, and mentioned I wanted one. Several months later, she came over and borrowed a board. I didn't think anything of it as she always has projects going on. The she gave me that for my birthday.

Oliver Loving, inspiration for Gus McRae, and Bose Ikard, inspiration for Joshua Deets, are buried just 10 minutes down the road from me.

Mike I have visited both their graves. My wife fell in love with that era and we have visited several interesting sites over the years.

Some new rod to try , N-99 nickel, TIG welding cast(steel or iron) to stainless. Useful for V-band clamps for turbo and stainless exhaust.

Mac is out for another round of breeding, he has a loving relationship with the sows. I would say he is between 550 and 600 #'s

He is quite menacing, but he is a good guy. I am the only one who goes near him, he is very fast and can run quickly, I always have to keep a look out. He lets me give him some love every day though, I try to have a bucket or something in my hand to keep between us. His tusks are crazy right now, normally he will break them off, but he has one growing back that I might have to cut.

That's good TIG rod, Kris.. I've used that at work a few times when I was part of the regular maintenance crew.. since I've been running the boilers and utilities I don't weld much anymore unless it's something for home..

What breed is Mac? and are they a common breed in America?

He is a pure breed Mangalitsa, or Mangaliza (EU), they come from Hungary in the 1700's. The breed almost went extinct in the US in the early 2000's. Farmers have brought them back and are now a popular, still rare, breed. Mangalitsa is known for the fat inside, so I breed him with a pure breed Gloucestershire Old Spot, which is rare also, and it makes for better fat distribution and a red colored meat. My customers all rave about the flavor. I call my breed, MangaSpots, and am quite proud of them.

Thank you for that, we have a similar situation over here. About 90% of pork products sold here are imported, there are now farmers who are doing what you are doing, in that they are raising old heritage breed pigs, usually English breeds for people who want good old fashioned pork and pork products. They usually use smaller processors off farm or even on farm to process/slaughter there stock. There is a demand growing for these old heritage breeds and their meat, as you say they have better fat and flavor. It is not a mainstream industry due to cost of the end product and because people don't understand what they are buying, we have become an urbanized society with a disconnect from where our food comes from. I am sure your end product would be fantastic to eat.

I post this not to brag about the belt, but to brag on rossr.
Ross does leather work and sells sheaths and such out of his AAPK store. I needed a new black belt, full grain leather. I hate how other leather belts fall apart far too quickly. It's simple, nothing fancy, just what I wanted. Ross was a great guy to work with and he made sure I was happy before sending it out (more on that later). He also tossed in a key ring and fob. Ross got it out quick. He's up in the Poconos, only about 2 1/2 hours drive from me. I was going up to pick up the belt and meet Ross, but didn't work out for me. So, from the Poconos to New Jersey, USPS decided the belt needed to go through Florida for some reason. Oh, well. I have my belt and I'm really pleased.
