So moving back to my home state has allowed me to purchase guns again. I scored this S&W M&P FPC (folding pistol carbine) in 9mm. Comes with 3 mags which are stored on the gun and hold 63 rounds. Had the Vortex red dot laying around so I mounted that. Super accurate and fun to shoot. Comes with its own case and shoulder strap.

I was looking thru my box of stag handle material the other day for a couple of pieces for a knife and I ran across a couple of pieces that were too short for anything and extra wide. I just about tossed them when I thought wait a minute, I can use those. I had been thinking of a new wood set of grips for my Bond Rawhide derringer, but quickly changed that idea to stag. Got them all done and fitted. It gives the grip a wider profile against the web of the hand, especially when firing full factory loads in the 327 Federal magnum caliber.

That is really slick. I think they also make it in 10mm Auto caliber. That would use the same mags as my S & W M & P 2.0 in 10mm Auto caliber.

When my brother comes from out of state and we go out to the range and he shoots it, he calls it "that palm canon."

Beautiful grips OC! ::nod:: As big as my hands are, that would be hard to shoot! Have to count the fingers after.

I had been considering a new 22lr bolt action rifle for some time, I wanted something with a nice walnut stock. There are several choices out there, but after some careful consideration, I found something to fit the bill. This is the Springfield Armory 2020 in what they call the Select Walnut stock. Since I am buying this as a shooter, it will work out just fine. Also available were grades A, AA, and AAA walnut stock which can run the price up by several hundred dollars. Because the gun is made in Turkey, the stock is Turkish walnut. Even though I chose the lowest grade of walnut, it still has a lot of grain pattern to it. I had looked at others including the CZ 22 bolt actions, which do have some nice wood on them, but could not get by their clunky stamped steel box magazine which protrudes below the stock. The 2020 is designed to use Ruger 10/22 magazines, the one that comes with the gun is marked Springfield Armory, but other Ruger mags I have fit and functioned fine. The bolt travel is very smooth, fit and finish is excellent. The trigger has a wide smooth face and is set at the factory at about 4 lbs. It comes with a Weaver type base already mounted on the action. My trusty old Bushnell Trophy 4-12 x with AO works just fine on it with Weaver rings. Springfield Armory offers a accuracy guaranty that the gun will shoot 3 shots into one inch or less at 50 yards with an experienced shooter and quality match ammo. As shown in the picture below. the very first group I shot with it was 10 shots at 50 yards measuring right at one inch with hunting ammo, CCI Mini Mag HPs. The group shown would go about 5/8 inch with 9 shots plus the flier, which was no doubt caused by the jerk behind the trigger. Testing is going on now with 10 different kinds of ammo to see what it likes the best.

Thanks guys. The rifle shoots great, it's the jerk behind the trigger that needs more work. lol
The Turkish gun industry is turning out some very high quality products. Several of the modern Winchester rifles are made there as well as the Tisas line of 1911 pistols.

Refreshing to see the combination of walnut, traditional glass and bolt action being appreciated!
To each his own, firearms like this .22 are comparable to a traditional patterned pocket knife with jigged bone handles. The other side of that coin represents the "zombie killer" knives and the souped up plastic/zytel/nylon additions to basic 10/22s that are so popular with the younger folks.
No hate here, just an old man's personal observations and opinion, again, to each his own!

Heres a fun one i picked up earlier this year.
Husqvarna single shot 30-30.
I think from reading its from the 30's or so.
Have to do some tinkering with the extractor since it looks like the previous owner bent itto far in, and it wont hop over the rim.
