After a week of overcast skies and several inches of rain, the sun popped out this afternoon. I was so glad to see it, I took a few random pics on a short road trip, nothing special, just some November scenes in mid America.
I always like the contrast between the bright green of the Winter Wheat and the brown of everything else this time of year. In six months the colors will be reversed.

You can also notice that the White-Tailed Big Mouth is often found near a group of Big-Bellied Farters...

Nice pictures Ike! Enjoy seeing them!
My sewing machine drawer showed up. Will mount this under a countertop in the kichtchen to have easy access to my EDC's & Lansky.

I'll make a real lid for it to keep out most of the kitchen moisture & so that I can use the lock on it if I ever chose to. Like if we have any grandchildren in the house some day.
Thanks for looking friends!

Found these that someone had thrown out in a rubbish heap. I can understand why, they were covered in rust and would not open due to years of neglect. And someone who did not know how to, probably highly likely letting it get to that stage in the first place, or could not be bothered would just throw them out. Especially in this throw away and replace society we live in now. I had to save them, my father would have picked them up and cleaned them up, they are made in Sheffield, England and great little solid pliers. I just soaked them in degreaser for a couple of hours, then in an alcohol bath over night, gave them a rinse in warm water with detergent, then a soak in inox for a hour, then just wiped them and dried them off. I love old, pre made in China, tools, and after fixing these up, i know why.

Nice save cudgee!
I also appreciate old tools. I don’t collect them, I use them. Very few tools in my shop are under 50 years old, at least. I’ve learned they can be bought at flea markets, estate sales and such for less than the current day Chicom made junk. Top quality, and they have experience too!

Good going.

Always good to find a usable tool. To me it's as good as finding money.

Love old tools.

Well, I finally got around to cleaning up the Wilton Vise my buddy gave me. Tried something I had read about on cleaning and paint removal. Took it apart and soaked it in Simple Green all day and over night. Then rinsed the parts in water and brushed the paint off. Came off like a charm, and no toxic paint stripper needed. Did a little sanding flapper work with an angle sander to even the anvil and jaw sides, and buffed the Handle and locks. Then I brushed it and wiped down with mineral spirits. I painted the housing, traveling jaw and base with etching primer, then when it dried, put a coat of sand-able primer and scrubbed with scotchbrite and wiped down with mineral spirits. Painted it with Rust-Oleum 7219830 Hammered Metal Finish Spray paint in Verde Green which I think looks very close to the original Wilton paint color. I am hoping with the etching primer, and second primer it will give a durable finish. Will mount it sometime next week, and it will be ready to go.
The first picture for reference of what it looked like when I received it. The next two, how it looks now, although I know it won't remain that way.

Great job.

And you want it to be used and not remain the way it is now, it is like patina on a knife.

That's fantastic, Layla looks like an animal from some sort of satanic cult.
