Thanks for the reply. I did a quick search, and found that a Walter Denniston had lived in Orange county, NY from the time of his birth in 1855 to his passing in 1922. There was no occupation listed or any hint as to why he may have been presented a knife. That is a cool find!

Here's a display knife I've had for a while. Doesn't have the bails on each end for hanging in a window.
