That's a nice one Producer. Looks to be in very good condition. It was made in the late '70s or early '80s (Camillus stopped pinning the handles in about 1976). Watch out because they're addictive. There's just something about the way they feel in your hand.

Thanks jerry, I didn't know that re: the date and pinning.
It has great snap on all blades and it does feel good in hand and pocket.
If these get to me like old Schrades I'm in trouble.

I only have a few other Camillus's
3 #10 American Wildlife Series and one wooden handled Scout type knife that says Camillus, New York, USA with no underlining
I bought the #10's when they first came out. I had a lot more but gave them away decades ago.
Rethinking that now

Nice knife producer.
Here is my latest ,it a Harley Davidson HD 21. I have only seen two of these on Ebay.I would like to thank Jerry D for posting it to me.The seller on Ebay would not post to Australia so I had it posted to Jerry's address.

I think they could have made some Stanley one's with serrated blade.I am not sure. Jerry D might know when he turns up.

Here are four more I picked up since the first of the year. One or two may be project knives, since I bought some blades from a knife repairman who is quitting the business to do only custom work.

I found a couple more in my shop that I forgot I had too.
I will have to get some pics posted of them too.

Dale the Craftsman can be a mixed lot.I have Imperials one has 9494 stamped on the back of the blade the other has 9494 etch on the blade.I have two made by Ulster or Schrade the have Craftsman USA 9494 and I have another one bone handle just Craftsman USA its saber gind both sides the same as the Imperials.I don't know if Camillus made any for Craftsman.

Again a first for me. It looks like a Jack or Copperhead pattern?
Is that what an #18 is?

Dale -- The top left jigging and plain long pull looks like Ulster/Schrade but I can't read the tang stamp. Good candidate for some new blades and Sambar STAG handles. The top right looks like it's a 1946-47 Camillus short line, 1st generation. I hope you're not considering diddling with it.

Grant -- That's a nice line-up of Craftsman 9494s. All Ulster/Schrade of course. The bottom one is the first 9494 I've seen with bone handles. Sweet.

Producer -- You have been warned. The 72s and their clones are extremely addictive.

Camillus calls the #18 pattern 'Large Serpentine Jack'. I'm fighting a growing addiction to it's smaller brother, the #14.

Jerry the bone Craftsman has pinns through the bolsters .If it was made by Schrade or Ulster it was made before 1959-60 thats when they started to use the Swindon System.

Jigged bone handles make me think pre-1960 is a reasonable assumption.

Had to get a new one. The old one was eight years old and running fine until we went on R&R and I turned it off before I left. When I came back it wouldn't power back on. Nothing, nada. Power light was blinking but there was nobody home. Did a little trouble shooting and decided it was either the power supply or more likely the motherboard.

I got lucky and Dell has a small form factor box loaded with Windows 7. I groaned at the thought of Windows 8 so I bought it even though it was $50 more than the exact same box loaded with Windows 8.1. Windows 7 is going to take some getting used to (because it sucks big time but not as badly as Windows eight). The good news is, it's much faster than the old box.

.......grant, instead of going to a pub on a rainy day, try building stick and tissue, balsa wood airplanes-you can use a razor sharp #72(it can be done) in place of an xacto knive and keep a glass of "Jacque danyel" handy to steady your hand and also to use as an antiseptic when you cut yourself!!!......................

Carrmillus you should know that the old ones are of higher quality than the newer ones.Just look at some of the young people today.
I think I will stay away from the "Jacque danyel" as I can cut myself enough drinking water.

Picked up a 72 pattern from an antique shop for $5. I think it dates to 1946 because if you look on the collectors of Camillus site the 1946 catalog shows the 72 pattern with the coping blade opposite the main blade. All 72 patterns after this date have the coping blade next to the main blade. Whatever the case I like it.

And man did it sharpen up real good.
