All y'all know I like to buy and resell knives that I purchase, but I just can't seem to let this Colonial Swiss Master leave my home...
I don't believe she's ever been used.....

I agree Scott.

I have two different variations. One is still in the blister pack. The other I use and the dang things are well made w good blade steel.

Gotta tell ya - the advertising on that knife brings back some memories!
Okuma manufactures CNC lathes and milling machines as well as custom
machining centers.

I worked for a company called Schwitzer Turbocharger. This company used more
CNC machinery than any other machining manufacturer in the region! Although
I spent some time on the production line running the Okuma 4 axis lathes -
I spent more time programing them... I was moved off the production floor
and went straight to making the prototypes - in which I wrote the programs for
all the CNC operations for the entire machining processes.

Probably 95% or these machines were made by Okuma.

Been out of the machining field since '95 but if there were any way possible
I would be right back in it! .... to me those were the "good old days."

Hey Scott, nice one...
This # 1405 in this condition, with the surfsce imprint still in excellent condition should be oiled (just the joints), and stored away. That imprint is only protected by a thin layer od laquer, and is suseptable to solvents and oils so be careful! Oil it, double ziplock it and store it!! These are the originall Swiss Master's and were replaced by the # 2000 series that had no assembly pins visible. Still wicked nice; something to hand down to a family member...Also, as good ole' J.K. remarked, the company was famous and this is another reason to keep that imprint safe!

Scott!! You dog you! These are nice, old, rare Colonial's with worn tang stamps, pretty
Celluloid, including a wood grain, and a cracked Ice! The beautiful green swirl is a classic also! Good ole' Scott! Just when you think he's empty, he comes back loaded for bear!!
Liner tiped bolsters, long pulls, all signs of late 30's and early 40's!
Nice job Scott!! You are da-man,,,,
Now I gotta go dig for some comparitive pics, without taking down my wall displays....
Let's see what I can find on film, so to speak...

At some point, I'm going to have to re-shoot these because this picture does them no justice!
On top is a J.M. Schmidt, two blade jewelry knife, obviously pre-ban Elephant Ivory, dated around 1910, and this is one of the first knife company's grandpa Frederick worked at in Providence, R.I.!! When the family moved to Meriden, Ct., Fred worked at Miller Bros., and this is from his time there from 1914 to 1919, an old shell cover with initials, cigar cutter.
An earlier Miller Bros. 2-blade gentlemen's jewelry knife and this is made with sterling silver covers!! Curved tang stamp show's the early years. These photo's are in my book and are much more defined!

Scott, these are older than both of us put together!!

AH yes!! # 530 Old Cutler grade R.A.P. Cutler, smooth bone! My biggest and best seller..
I made these in fifteen color's of dyed bone, MOP, Abalone Pearl, stag, Mammoth Ivory,
several types of wood, anything I could possibly fit into a 3 X 3/4 inch space!
Made TONS of these! Better not sell yours!! You don't see a lot on e-bay do you??

I've noticed alot of them have Old Cutler on the main tang & RAP on the spey tang--I've missed a few of the stag handled ones but they show often enough I'll snag one anytime now. I've got a few of the earlier stamped Colonials with the arched stamp I'll post pic's of one a these days

Interesting...very few of my RAP Cutler's went out without RAP on the master blade...even some of my pearl and Mammoth Ivory knives were made BEFORE I had my own tang stamp made!
If you find one with a Old Cutler tang stamp and it's plastic, it's not mine! My company for sure but I just wish I could have taken you through such an opperation at Colonial with literally MILLIONS of parts EVERYWHERE!! My RAP's had the stamp on the master blade, as well as the sheepfoot. NEVER stamped the spey blade; this blade usually showed a patent # which actually represents our bolster design and patent!
Put eight New York city blocks together in three piles, THAT was Colonial knife!! Here's a taste of what can't possibly comprehended...and I remember EVERY INCH of it..
I want you all to know, it pains me to see and show these pictures, but I feel the need to share them. THIS, is Colonial Knife Company today, closed, burnt, and abandoned....
NOT up and making knives again, like some of you were lead to believe....
The first picture is the north end of the building, tubbing room lower level, and assembly room directly above; my bench was the last window down, upper level...secondary finishing room to the end of the structure.
Second picture, lower level, steel stock room and Tryclorethelene degreasing machine!
DANGEROUS STUFF!! Leo didn't live very long; he sprayed the shells for our # MC-47, money clip knife. (Chivas Regal)...above that, the new office..down the line is the back end of the grinding room, and top level is the assembly room to the end of the street..
God almighty, I miss that place....

Looks like guys are starting to clean out thier desk drawers!! Hot Die stamped; sold tons of these, even though they came out years after Shrade's LB-7 Lock Back...(not Buck's right Scott)!! Private joke guys!!

Good morning gents!

Since this thread is named "Show-em", I thought I might go a head and follow suit with all
these other beauti's! These are just a few of my period of fixed blade experimentation. I used some India Stag and some New England deer antler, which doesnot have the character of India stag, but it's nice for scrimming.
The Cobra and Scorpion one is cool, and the Native American couple and Tomahawk are both works by my pal Joe Luiz, scrimshaw master of Newport, Rhode Island....
Joe retired many years ago and I feel fortunate enough to have lots of his work on my Mammoth Ivory stockman's, along with pieces as these. Enjoy! Bobby P. R.A.P. Cutler..

Scot those LB-25's are stout knives I've got two of them one has etched blade both unsharpened--I don't recall seein them back when--I've been tempted to put one to use and see just how well it does I carried a Schrade in the early 80's and never really liked it at all and replaced it with a 110 that I've carried off and on mostly road in my trucks glove box--maybe I like these 25's so much because they're such a great deal
