I agree with Earl and Monk, hatback needs to post more. Not only are his photos fine, he posted a link to a video on youtube one time that was really well done. He makes the leather cases/sheaths for his knives too. Maybe he'll post the link again?

Thanks for all of the good comments guys. I don't consider my photos any nicer than the ones y'all are showing. And I sure can't compete with the likes of the subject matter .... them are some nice slippies everyone has .....

..... and Mike, thanks for re-posting the video link on some of my leather work. If I'm carrying, I'll make me a pocket pouch or belt holster. I can't get used to toting one without it.

I'll share more as time allows. Meanwhile, I'm truly enjoying all of your photos, comments and useful information.

Real nice Barry,really like the color buddy Mine are ok,one of reasons I don't buy a lot of stag, front and back side don't match up real well,but I'm happy to have 'em,cause like you said they didn't last long.

Yeah, his work is awesome; I've only been able to appreciate it through photos, though. Stag like that is difficult to come by on a production knife, except on a rare occasion by accident, or maybe a custom order from the maker.

This one doesn't have mirror image scales, but they're pretty nice! Not stainless, but made by GEC! Thanks, Bryan!

How about a little game of elk stag crib? Tuna Valleys are just for show!We hunters are lucky in Washington state 'cause you can hunt 3 species of deer and two of elk! The crib board was made by an old friend who has a habit of collecting Roosevelt Elk sheds and making cool stuff from them, with crib boards being a specialty. I show it 'cause I wanted you to see what it looks like compared to the elk that GEC uses. If any of you are interested in a similar game board, pm me and I will put you in touch with him.

Tell ya what Barry after zooming in on that Elk Horn I'd like to have a knife handled in THAT ONE,all those fissure's,man that would look sweet on a #23 or a #53 Stockman

I've got some Elk sheds bout 20 yo and I've been tempted,might have take some bark off see .

Question: Are the fissure's or lack of attributed to anything specific.... certain area of the horn... age of horn?

I have no idea what causes the fissures. Maybe just a result of the horn drying out. I do know he has a garage full of elk antlers!
