All About Pocket Knives

I found an Alabama Trapper single blade and a Parker-Edwards Razor single blade(very tempting)both on Vintage Blades LLC, (great company to deal with), but no Razor-Trapper, so I went looking for a Schrade Walden and found the best deal on SMKW, a Schrade Walden Razor/Trapper in amber jigged bone with "Everlastingly sharp" etch.
The tang says USA, although it was listed under Taylor Brands. Is it really made in the USA?

Edgewise, I talked to a friend of mine who deals in knives and he said if the Shrade-Walden has "Everlastingly Sharp" etched on the blade, it most likely is made in the USA, although "Taylor Brands" are kind of a pig in a poke, so to speak, some of them being made in Taiwan and some in China. I only mentioned the Jacksonville, Alabama made Parker-Edwards razor trappers because I own several of them and they all seem to be very well made. Quality steel, good workmanship and excellent "walk and talk". By the way, the "Keen Kutter" by Bear MGC posted by El Lobo is another one to keep your eyes out for. Another superb razor trapper. Keep looking on E-Bay and search under "Parker-Edwards knives" and occasionally there will be one up for bid. The usual winning bid should be somewhere around $35-$40, unless it's a Damascus blade or Sambar Stag handled variety, then....it will be considerably higher. I bought this one a couple of months back for $32.00! NIB.

It looks like a fancy copy of the Opinel, with a selection of beautiful woods.
Marjacq knives are made in Thiers by Arno Industries who makes knives since 1934.
I got this information from Knife Center where I also got the knife.

SMKW has a nice selection of razors, but after seeing your white bone Parker-Edwards, there's NO comparison.

I checked, it is exact. I never had heard spoken about this mark. the creator of the marjacq is Jacky BABILON. It seem's this mark is more known outside France.

I am not surprised that the Marjacq is not well known IN THE LAND OF THE OPINEL.
It only confirmed my belief that the OPINEL cannot be improved, neither does it have an equal.
You may say that it is a knife among knives.
It is an .... OPINEL.

There is an article on page 14 of Knife World August edition on modifying the Opinel. I have that on my list of reads.

no, Gavroche is a trademark. Yatagan blade pattern have no special name.
(in reality Gavroche is a character of the novel "Les misérables" of Victor Hugo.)

( Or anybody that can help)...in that Knife World article, does it show a procedure for taking the Opinel apart ? Can anyone 'splain to me, how to get the durn things apart, without messing up the Virobloc ?

I've got a #12 and a #8, that I'd like to rehandle.

No it didn't. After I read the article it was different ideas to reshape or embelish the handle and file work the blade. I'm not sure you can take them apart.

Here my two remaining EDC toters.
Misplaced or lost an older Schrade Walden 708 that was a handy small EDC. And gave my other 78 22087 to a fellow Case Club member that also admires the 087 pattern.
The '78 22087 is a true Pocket Worn model now after 25+ yrs but it is 100% functional with smooth handles, smooth bolsters and smooth blade action. Stays sharp too!
Second one was a gift from an auction seller to go along with a Queen lockback Commem I had bought. This one is an '82 Queen 9105 Jack that was missing the Q shield and that's why he threw it in free. Knife cleaned up well, has not other defects than a few blade scratches. these blades don't have snap, they go CLACK when they close. I called Queen Cutlery and they were more than happy to send me a replacement shield. I even managed to get the shield in Straight which is no small feat (for me).
So cleaned, oiled and a new shield, this Q82 9105 is ready to Git R Dun.
Slightly larger frame and blades than the 087, it has excellant feel and didn't take long for it to become a favorite.
