Haven't heard any more about your wildfires down under. Are they all extinguished? What's the skinny?

John, I can't decide if the stump creature looks more like a type of Primate or maybe a Barn Owl. Good one!

The Stump Creature has got me stumped. But it looks like the basis of a good sci-fi movie.

Right pretty canna, don't you think. Getting close to the end for pretty 💐 flowers, I love 💘 the fall but I hate to see the flowers go
Nice Cannas, my parents always had those at one end of the garden.
Here is a much smaller flower, about the size of a pencil eraser, a tiny Frog Fruit bloom magnified a few times.
Now that's a real eye catching beauty Ike! ::super_happy::

I enjoy your pictures of historical sites! Thanks for sharing them! ::tu:: ::super_happy::

I'm curious ::hmm:: what it's like living where you live in reference to hurricanes. Like how long does it take you to drive down to the Golf of Mexico & is that a fairly safe distance? If not from the rain, at least from the strong winds. ::shrug::

I still dream of returning to the US some day and that's the kind of questions I'm always asking myself. How close can I get to the ocean & still be relatively safe from canes? ::hmm::

Vicksburg is about 200 miles from Gulfport,Ms via highway and about 3 1/2 hours drive and
about 170 as the crow flies. We catch rain if a hurricane hits the right place.
The one that hit the other week didn't cause us any problems.
Now Katrina that hit in 2005 caused problems all the way up past here.
But it was a rare cat 5 storm. Probably the worst to hit the Mississippi Gulf coast.
Mostly wind related tree and powerline problems are what we get.
And most hurricane winds are less than 65mph by the time they reach here.

But here we have had to run the A/C on Christmas Day on multiple occasions.
Our really cold weather is in Feb.
As far as snow goes we get an inch or so every few years. It usually only stays a day or two.

This morning, I was forced, by pileage...to do some cleaning and reorganization. Something slipped off the pile, on top of my gun safe...off the back, in between it and the wall. Who knows what it was...but; it's gonna take an estate conversion to ever find it.
Anyway...I'd seen somewhere else, in someone's photo, where they had stuck their knife stickers, on the inside of their safe. To be honest...I probably would have guessed I had 2-3. I never realized they were so common, in the knife world. These are the ones in my pile. I probably threw some away in the past. Don't know why I didn't think of this earlier.

Leaf colors are going to be really nice this fall. I wish my camera could do them justice and the Calif. smoke has everything hazy.____Dave

Beautiful pictures Dave. It’ll be at least 4 to 6 weeks before we get any fall color here. Usually around Thanksgiving. Then it’ll last about 3 days before the leaves all fall off! ::dang::
