Wowwie, that is some fine work. Am even more impressed that you did the work yourself. I would have had to send it away to the great knife mechanics we have around here. That looks as good as a Glennbad or a Muskrat Man, or an Orvet mod and those guys are the bar to which all others are compared in my small mind. So you nailed it and congrats on ascending to the top of the knife mechanic realm in my book. Can't say enough about your skills and talent and wherever you got that beautiful piece of tusk.

Here’s one I don’t know much about. Found in my knife roll today thought I might give it to my nephew who has been collecting for awhile. The knife is mint but don’t know how old it is. Looks like a knife made in the 70s but I am probably wrong. Tang stamp says Kaufmann

Killer scales, that is some fabulous saw cut bone. Lucky nephew you have.

Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
Good looking Barlow Potechop. As you can see, Kaufmann knives were made in Germany, a lot of them in Soliingen. I believe Kaufman closed around 1995 or 96. Besides knives, Kaufman also used to produce optics.Potechop wrote: ↑Mon Apr 11, 2022 12:52 am Here’s one I don’t know much about. Those are beautiful scales on that one. That sawcut bone looks great. It looks to me like something that Boker made for Kaufman, but I could be wrong.
Either way, it is a nice knife.

I'm not exactly sure, maybe 6 or 7 hundred.

I guess I really should do an inventory.

Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
Nice…. To carry them all at one time let’s do the math 700 x avg. 5 oz. knife = 3500 oz equals I guess 218.75 lbs…. Or you still need more knives….

Re: Barlows does anyone else love them
My new years resolution was to stop buying knives but I've probably bought 10 since then.
