Couple of Schrades, Cut Co era.

IM, two very nice bare head Schrade Cuts. Hard to beat beautifully executed peach seed jigged bone handles but that pick bone is quite the prize!! I don’t think or recall seeing any pick bone quite like it before. There is a somewhat subtle pattern to the pick—sort of a like Xs or Ws across the face of the bone handles. I have seen a lot of and own a number of pick bone handled Schrades but the pick is more random and not patternized like your example. Love it !!!

Thank you much Duffer, appreciate the mention. Haven't seen jigging like it either. One of the things that appealed to me is the sort of swirl, or switchback pattern it has, looks wavy to me, or curvy. I did not know if that was common in that Era or not. But really appreciate the comments and notice. Hope to see ya in April in Eugene.

Recently, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. It now becomes my first example to be posted under this topic or thread. I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, it did turn out to be a keeper and it was added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is a SIMMONS, two blades, one tang stamp, 3 3/8" closed, two springs, "barehead jack", pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, "SIMMONS (over) ST. LOUIS" The main blade has a CRISP half stop, along with a GOOD opening and closing snap. The secondary blade has a VERY CRISP half stop, also a WICKED opening and closing snap. Both blades have seen some use. But, this pocket knife is still in FAIR+ condition. It did need some cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

I did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. However, it did turn out to be a keeper and it was added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is an ULSTER 2610, two blades, three tang stamps, 3 3/8" closed, two springs, "barehead jack", pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "ULSTER (over) KNIFE (over) CO." The main blade back tang stamp says, "2610" The secondary blade front tang stamp says, "ULSTER (over) KNIFE (over) CO." The main blade has a VERY CRISP half stop, along with a NASTY opening and closing snap. The secondary blade has a GOOD half stop, also a GOOD opening and closing snap. Obviously, both blades have seen some use. A part of the one handle side seems to have worn away. That does NOT concern me. Overall, this pocket knife is still in GOOD condition. It did need some minor cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

It is a VALLEY FORGE, two blades, two tang stamps, 3 7/8" closed, two springs, long main blade pull, "barehead jack", pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp, VERY FAINT and what I can make out, says, "VALLEY FORGE (over) CUTLERY CO. (over) NEWARK, N.J." The secondary blade front tang stamp, also VERY FAINT and what I can make out, says, "VALLEY (over) FORGE (over) CUTLERY" The main blade has a VERY GOOD half stop, along with a VERY GOOD opening and closing snap. The secondary blade has a GOOD half stop, also a VERY GOOD opening and closing snap. Both blades are EXTREMELY SHARP!! It is obvious that both blades have seen some use. However, each blade definitely has some steel left. A piece of the one handle side is missing. But overall, this pocket knife is in FAIR+ condition and still has a lot of life left in it. I did have to clean it up a bit. I took some pictures and here it is.

Really nice old knife, NYK Co. probably has some same DNA the bone gives it away. I still have a couple Electric and a couple NYK Co. knives.
