Very nice Ken!!! Is that an older one? I think the oldies were produced from 1990' to 1999'. Not sure if they also "revived" this particular snake like they have the other recent production Snakes. Regardless, very nice.

Even before I read Ken's post, Dad' old 6" Python got the call to CCW duty today.

COLT Python 6" .357. Circa 1965'
SIG SAUER P938 9MM. Modern time frame.
CASE XX 6235
CASE XX 6265

Jerry
Jerry,
I also carry the Sig 938 daily. It is jut the right size and it has a hammer, which is important to me.

Ray
I’m with you and Jerry on the hammer. I had a bad time with my first semi auto making light primer strikes if the striker channel was dirty. No more for me.

Gimme my 1911s, revolvers, and my CZ75.

If y’all ain’t given the CZ75 a test ride yet, I highly recommend it. Mine is the compact model and I love that thing. Even if it is the wrong caliber!

That was my tongue in cheek wise crack about it being a 9mm.

Colonel Jeff Cooper said the CZ75 would be the greatest modern fighting pistol if only it were in 45acp.

For the record, my preferences aside, there’s room for all the calibers at my house. I don’t discriminate.

Interesting stuff Wade. I don't discriminate against any caliber as well.
May choose not to have one. Personal preference. I buy mostly standard, commonly available, military calibers as well (if it hits the fan and is laying around).

Hunting rifles are these...
.17 HMR
.22 LR
.243 Winchester
.30-06 Springfield

DAD never would know what the an .17 HMR was. All we had was three calibers, .22 to 30-06. Too small for intended prey, step up. To big for intended prey, down a caliber in the trio. Appears according to his records he owned a couple 1903s. Says Springfield and Remington .30-06. Also an 1895 Argentine Mauser in 7.65. Never laid eyes on them. Long gone.

Birds were fixed choke, 20 and 12 gauge. Pump, single or double barrel. (I have a gifted Browning Gold Hunter 12 gauge semi auto now since Dad passed)

Old School. Worked for us.

Revolvers were .38 or .357 only.

I don't think my Dad ever owned a semi auto handgun besides an S&W Model 59 9mm circa 71' to 81, in his records'. Again, never saw it, long gone before I came of age. One time we were at a indoor range with a bunch of family that allowed rapid fire. Dad in next lane and I dumped a rapid fire 15 round mag from an old SIG P226 9mm. The look he gave me of digust, I will never forget. It was like, "what in the heck are you doing Son?"

My semi's are various very common calibers. All SIG.

Oh. I do have a stubby 2" ⁶S&W Governor. Pictured in my avatar. Shoots 3 calibers, one of which is 2-1/2" .410 shotshells. Versatility was reason I bought it. Also for my face full of pellets yote pack discourager for desert adventures. Has a grip laser as well, LOL. The defensive 410s they sell now are formidable. 3 pellet 000 buckshot, heavy disks mixed with BBs, etc
Dumped a cylinder with 3 rounds each of those two in a silhouette at 7 yards, Humpty Dumpty is not getting put back together again.

Just how I do it, to each his own.

I finally took this one out to do so paperwork this past weekend and I absolutely love it! This thing is just a pure pleasure to shoot!
I had 3 other 9mm to compare it with and the only one that was close, or maybe slightly better, was my CZ75B. I think with a little more practice, this little 1911 may prove to be more accurate.

I love a Commander size 1911! But the only lightweight 1911 I have is actually my wife’s Kimber Ultracarry, Officer’s size. I’m not a Kimber fan, but it’s a good little pistol nonetheless.

What brand is yours?

I probably shot my CZ75c better than my 1911 until I did some customization. I installed an arched mainspring housing (fits my big hands better) and an oversized/square firing pin stop.

The firing pin stop totally changed the recoil impulse. The felt recoil ain’t much different now than the CZ 9mm, even my teenage boys think so. Now it’s a toss-up which I shoot better in any given day. (Better according to my poor abilities and how well my eyes are working that particular day!)

The light weight commander in 9mm is made by "Tisas" in Turkey. I became aware of the brand a little over a year ago, and have bought multiple models since.

Guys,
Here are my last two acquisitions. A Smith & Wesson snubby in 357 mag and a Colt Cobra snubby also in 357 mag. The S&W is clean as can be so I'm guessing minimal usage. The Cobra has never been fired. I sure have a hard time passing on these stainless snubbys.

Interesting that Cooper is thought of as Mr 1911 or Mr 45ACP, but he new both had their limitations. When Dornaus and Dixon were working on their Bren 10 pistol project, they decided to contact Cooper for advice. They were astonished to find that Cooper was already working on a wildcat 10mm pistol cartridge based on cut off 30 Remington cases. The three of them from that point on worked together on the Bren 10 pistol and cartridge. The pistol was a modified CZ75, which as you noted Cooper thought highly of. Unfortunately the project met an unsuccessful financial end. I can remember reading about it and seeing a Bren 10 pistol that a fellow at our local gun club had back in 1983 or 1984. I dont recall if I shot it or not. But Cooper, Dornaus, and Dixon were all after the same goal, a modern updated pistol for combat use. This project as several others that were tried were trying to achieve the stopping power of the 357 Magnun in an auto pistol. The work they did eventually led to the 10mm auto which today is commonly found in the 1911, Glocks, and others.

I was always told that the Bren Ten was a fantastic handgun, but the mags, or rather magazine availability, was its downfall.

Personally, if it has a trigger and gives off that wonderful burnt gunpowder smell….I probably like it. Lol.

Very nice! I always drilled into my boys’ head that if you can only have one handgun, make it a 357 revolver. I’m right partial to them.
