You're welcome to use it. Glad you like it. I used the panorama photo feature on my phone to get it all in. In total there are about four or five pictures which somehow the phone's camera software pieces together. As you slowly turn it, the camera snaps a sequence of pictures. To the left of the frame is looking due west and to the right is almost north. For reference the road you see runs north to south across part of the ranch.

Ken, your description of the Llano Estacado having it's own majesty and beauty is correct. My mother grew up in Tahoka, just south of Lubbock, so we traveled there quiet a bit. I love being able to see who is coming at me from miles away! It really does have an overwhelming beauty.

I just moved back to my hometown in Parker County after living near Houston for 25 years. It sure is good to be back home.

Probably the best prose descriptions of the Llano Estacado and the Caprock Escarpment I’ve read are in the historical novel Lords of the Plain by Max Crawford. If you haven’t read it, I recommend it. Told from the perspective of an 1800’s army cavalry soldier pursuing the Comanche, Crawford describes it’s unique majesty, vastness and the feelings early explorers and soldiers must have had when encountering it. The book describes the soldiers traveling for days along the escarpment trying to find a way to get their horses and equipment up and over it. Then when finally getting up onto the plain, the feeling of isolation and bewilderment, and fear of becoming lost because of not having any discernible landmarks.
For those unfamiliar with it, the Llano is essentially a huge ~35,000 square mile flat mesa in Texas and New Mexico, surrounded on three sides by an escarpment. In the 1800’s it was home to buffalo and Native American (Comanche) tribes. Today over a million people live on it.

I took a couple pictures of the Moon tonight.

Nice shots, we had a huge moon setting on the horizon at about 5.30am last Friday, but did not have my phone with me to take a shot. You keep taking shots like that though. Have a good week.

She started with 10 eggs, but only hatched two before she gave up the nest. As best I best I can tell I think she’s got a male chick (the one with the blond spot on its head) and a female chick (dark spot on its head). They’re about 4 days old - today is the first day she has brought them out to be with the flock.

Love those speckled Sussex chickens. I’ve got a barn lot full right now too. They sure seem to have more personality than some of the other breeds. And they lay great eggs too. Mine like to hang out with the goats.

I agree. I have four Speckled Sussex hens and they’re the most friendly of all of them. The rooster is a Cream Legbar. I have two Cream Legbar hens (they lay big blue eggs) remaining from four that our son gave us. The eggs this hen was sitting on were a mix of eggs from several hens and I’m not sure which ones hatched. Time will tell.

My grandson thinks so, too. He works with goats in the 4-H. He's even won a few show ribbons.

Great picture. A professional photographer couldn’t do any better, IMHO.

One inch long is a lot smaller than the dragonflies I’ve seen around here so I’m guessing that is a damselfly.
