Ha. That's funny, because the actual name of this body of water is called "Lake Winfield".
That is a real stretch because most folks would certainly consider it a pond.
It isn't original and it is dammed on one end. You can walk around it in 30 minutes.

Perspective........Joe, these last few months when I have enjoyed the awesome photos you have posted on this thread, I always envisioned you walking in a city park atmosphere and the body of water being something similar to a large koi pond or the like. I thought this because you stated that they were photos taken of a pond where you walk.
I am in Jerry's camp, a pond to me, is a couple of acres or less, usually in a pasture for livestock. Anything greater than 3 or 4 acres is a lake.
I guess my eyes were first opened to the Northeast perspective, when the movie "On Golden Pond" came out, but I am of the opinion that Ol' Walter lived in a lake.....not a pond.

Anything over in White County, larger than a half-acre or so is considered a lake.

When I was in tech school in Rantoul Ill. everybody kept telling me about this beautiful park with a lake outside of town. I missed the lakes that are everywhere around here in Northern Minnesota, so we drove out to the park. It was two little solid green ponds, maybe 5 acres each, with a little waterway between them and a bridge over the waterway. I think there might have been a tree near them. It didn't cure my longing for home. There are 6 actual lakes within walking distance, or at least biking distance from my house, and the water actually looks blue and you can see the bottom. It wouldn't even hurt you to drink it if you wanted to except for the one behind my house. It has beaver in it and you'll likely get giardia (I'm not sure I spelled that right).____Dave

I’ve lived in only two Florida counties, Orange my first 25+ years and Washington the last 45+. In Orange County a pond was usually very small be it natural or man made. In the Panhandle big natural bodies of water, hundreds of acres are often referred to as ponds. The old timers mention places like Porter Pond, Pate Pond, Gap Pond, etc. all very large lakes. Old maps used the word Pond almost exclusively when identifying these large bodies of water. Fast forward to today’s maps, all these old “ponds” are now called lakes.
Must be a regional thing, kinda like the difference between a water hole and a tank both provide water for cattle and lots of times fish for man.

Those are some beautiful pics of Alaska and Canada. All that snow just amazes me. It sure is beautiful.

Here in south central Kentucky if we get 1/4” it can shut us down. 1/2” and we’re out of school for a couple of days. Slick mixed with hills, hollars, and curvy roads don’t mix!

Well it looks like the girls got to gossiping about the goodies at big Homer's house, so the boys show up last night to get their share. Hard to see in my poor after dark photo but this dude had a nice rack. A smaller one came by earlier but by the time I got my phone he was gone.

Wow! Add 80 degrees to that -40 and we'll take it here in the Florida Panhandle for a nice winter day! Goodness.... Y'all must be tough! Brrrrrrr!

This morning I mentioned on the 1st Cup that I need to go back and check for a deer I had shot at last evening right before dark. I knew I had hit him but the blood evidence made me think I had just cut him and off he went. I found a short blood trail with a flashlight but it played out in about 15 yards. Miss Joy's blood tailin' dog didn't do as I thought she would. She went nuts over all the fresh scent in the small green field and never paid any attention to the blood. Well after my coffee and before breakfast this morning, I loaded her up on the cart and went to the spot where I 1st found blood last night. She immediately followed the trail to where I lost the track and proceeded to go straight to the deer, about 50 yards out in the tangle of downed pine trees thanks to Hurricane Michael. Y'all remember the kid's game "pick-up sticks", how the tooth picks were all tangled up? That's the way those pines are lying. Ol' Bambi was just beyond a jamb with no way to get the cart to him and I'm gettin' too old to drag one if I don't have to. I went back to the house and got the tractor and crawled over the low ends of several good sized pines in order to get the bucket close to the deer. This particular buck had shown up on the camera just a week or so ago, he's not the big one but had very heavy antler structure for his size.

This is the big one! Maybe he'll start making some appearances during legal shooting hours.

Finally hangin' in the ol' oak tree.

Autopsy revealed part of the liver and some lung was blown up and there was an exit hole but the deer was full of blood, should have left a humdinger of a blood trail. Thank goodness for the dog even if she didn't find him in the dark. On the bright side I didn't have to skin him in the dark.
