The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Those handles have a tendency to crack at the shield. Sometimes only on one side, sometimes on both sides, sometimes not for a long time, sometimes not at all (at least that I've seen).
Is that a crack I see on the side nearest the blade well or is it a crack starting or is it just my imagination?
It's nice. These don't come up for sale every day.

I'm pretty sure that Smitty won't mind.
Where is the crack?

Smitty, it's not my purpose to belittle your knife, it's just that more than half the white Scout 1047's I've seen have shield cracks. I have/had one (passed one on so it may have been that one) that developed a crack just sitting in storage. Click on picture to enlarge.
IF that's a crack starting, it may or may not develop further.
Here's one of mine with a crack.

Today I added this CAMILLUS 72 variation to my collection. It's another SCHRADE 863, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. This 863 came with the original box. It required no cleaning as it is in NEAR MINT condition (the knife). I took some pictures and here's the knife and the box.

Your eyes are way better than mine. I had to get my 40x loop out to see it after you pointed it out. Good call.

Received this one today. Another addition to my 72 Clone group. A NIB Remington R14D Swell Center Whittler. "D" I imagine meaning Delrin handles. Not really super hyped on the color mix of the handles, but it is what it is.
I've seen the Remington R14W version with wood handles. Not sure if I will add it to the collection or not. I'm just not too crazy about those Frost looking peacock color laminated wood handles on any knife.

There are two variations of the R14W I've seen. One a solid color wood and one with a multi-color laminated wood kind of like the old frost wood. Are these the two you speak of Skip, or is there another?

Today I'm adding, to my CAMILLUS 72 variation collection, this KUTMASTER (my third), 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. It needed some cleaning. I cleaned it, took a few pictures and here it is. This is NOT one of the KUTMASTER knives that I posted in the "Matching Pairs" thread today.
